Editorial Policy

This page describes how guides on EarlyGuides are actually made. It is written plainly, including the parts that are not flattering, because you cannot judge a guide without knowing how it was produced.

How guides are made

Guides are drafted with AI tooling working from public sources: the Steam catalog and store data, patch notes, in-game systems, and established community knowledge. A human sets the scope, decides which games and which guide types get published, reviews pages, and is accountable for what is on the site.

We do not claim that every sentence on this site has been verified by a person. At the scale this site operates, that would not be true, and publishers who claim it are usually not doing it either. What we do instead is described below.

What we removed, and why

An earlier version of our pipeline required a fixed set of guide types for every game, and “this game does not have that mechanic” was not an answer it could return. The result was guides for things that do not exist — boss guides for city-builders, crafting guides for card games.

Those pages have been deleted: 438 in August 2026, and a further 556 on 23 August 2026, including every crafting guide on the site. The generator can now decline to produce a page, and an automated check looks for the specific defect that a page-by-page review cannot see — a page that is internally perfect but asserts a premise the game does not support.

Accuracy and corrections

Games change. Patches rebalance builds, shift tier lists, and rework systems, so a guide can be correct when published and wrong a few weeks later. Corrections are the main way errors get found and fixed, so they are genuinely welcome, not a formality.

If something is wrong, out of date, or describes a mechanic the game does not have, tell us via our Contact page. Verified corrections are applied and the guide's updated date is refreshed. If a whole page turns out to rest on a false premise, we delete the page rather than patch it.

Freshness

Each guide shows a published and last-updated date. Those dates reflect real edits. Updates are prioritized for actively played and frequently patched titles.

Independence

EarlyGuides is independent and unofficial. We are not paid by game developers or publishers to cover, rank, or rate their games, and advertisers have no input into guide content. The site is funded by display advertising, which is why it is free to read.
