Cult of the Lamb Equipment Guide — Best Equipment Ranked

Complete Cult of the Lamb equipment guide. Every equipment option ranked with stats, best builds, and how to get them.

Cult of the Lamb is a genre mashup where you run a cult between roguelike dungeon runs. The base management half involves recruiting followers, building structures, conducting rituals, and maintaining faith — while the combat half sends you through procedurally generated dungeons to defeat heretic bosses. The tone is darkly comedic: you're a cute lamb sacrificing followers, brainwashing converts, and ascending to godhood. The Sins of the Flesh and Unholy Alliance updates added co-op, new systems, and quality-of-life improvements that significantly enhanced both the management and combat layers.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Darkwood
  2. Bane Axe → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Merciless Dagger → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Godly Sword → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying — one strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Conduct a Sermon every day at the Temple. Sermons level up your followers and maintain faith. Skipping sermons causes faith to decay.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
