Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is Arc System Works' follow-up to the 2020 fighter, published by Cygames and released on 14 December 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The launch roster ran to 28 fighters, with Anila, Siegfried, Grimnir and Nier joining the 24 who came across from the first game. The defining change is Bravery Points, a three-point per round defensive resource that Raging Strikes, Brave Counters and Skybound Arts all pull from.

Your choice of weapons defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

S-Tier: Skybound Art

The full-gauge super. It requires a completely filled SBA gauge, deals more damage than an Ultimate Skill, and strips a Bravery Point from the opponent while restoring one of yours on hit.

Weapons Progression Path

The order you should acquire weapons as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Story Mode
  2. Super Skybound Art → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Ultimate Skill → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Skybound Art → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Weapons Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary weapon before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your weapons to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Watch the opponent's Bravery Point count, not just their health. Both players start each round with 3, and an opponent at zero cannot Brave Counter, which turns your safest pressure sequence into a genuinely free one.
  • Check our tier list for how weapons rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
