Rockstar shipped GTA V Enhanced on PC on 4 March 2025 as a free upgrade for anyone who already owned the game, which is now called GTA V Legacy. Enhanced adds ray traced shadows, reflections, global illumination and ambient occlusion, DLSS 3 upscaling, AMD FSR 1 and 3, DirectStorage loading and Dolby Atmos audio. It also brings PC to parity with the console version, including Hao's Special Works vehicle upgrades, ambient animals and Career Progress tracking in GTA Online.
Boss fights are where Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

Los Santos Bosses
Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: Story start onward Recommended role: Franklin Clinton with Combat MG Mk II
Strategy
The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. Michael, Franklin and Trevor can be swapped at almost any time outside missions, and each has a unique special ability. This is your primary tool here.
Key tips:
- Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
- Use Three protagonist switching to create safe windows.
- Combat MG Mk II is enough to handle everything here.
Blaine County Bosses
Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: Available after Trevor's introduction Recommended role: Franklin Clinton with Combat MG Mk II
Strategy
Early game bosses test your understanding of Heist prep and approach choice. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.
Key tips:
- Heist prep and approach choice is critical for these fights.
- Farm Combat MG Mk II upgrades if you're struggling.
- Consider switching to Franklin Clinton if your current setup isn't working.
Mount Chiliad Bosses
Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: Any Recommended role: Michael De Santa with Heavy Sniper Mk II
Strategy
Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.
Key tips:
- You need both Three protagonist switching and Ray tracing and upscaling settings mastery.
- Heavy Sniper Mk II makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
- See our combat guide for advanced techniques.
Fort Zancudo Bosses
Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: Any, though expect a five star response Recommended role: Michael De Santa with Heavy Sniper Mk II
Strategy
Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.
Key tips:
- Make sure your build is fully optimized.
- Heavy Sniper Mk II at max upgrade is recommended.
- Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.
Cayo Perico Bosses
Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: GTA Online, requires the Kosatka Recommended role: Michael De Santa with Heavy Sniper Mk II
Strategy
Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.
Key tips:
- Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
- Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
- These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.
General Boss Tips
- Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
- Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
- Upgrade your weapons: A max-upgraded Heavy Sniper Mk II trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
- Use Three protagonist switching: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
- Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
