Noita Tier List — Current Rankings

Noita tier list ranking every build and equipment option. Updated rankings with detailed reasoning.

This Noita tier list ranks every major option by overall effectiveness. Rankings factor in damage output, survivability, versatility, gear requirements, and how well each option scales.

Tier definitions: S = best in class, always a strong pick. A = strong and competitive, minor weaknesses. B = solid but clearly outperformed in most situations. C = viable only for players who enjoy the playstyle.

Builds Rankings

TierBuildRatingPlaystyle
AFire Mage8.5/10Set everything on fire. Oil pools become infernos, wooden structures collapse, and enemies burn to death. Fire Immunity makes you immune to your own destruction.
AElectricity Build8.5/10Flood areas with water (flask or rain spell), then electrify the water to chain-kill everything. Electricity Immunity keeps you safe standing in the shocked water.
BPolymorph Chaos7.5/10Turn dangerous enemies into sheep, then kick them off cliffs. Chaotic results create hilarious and occasionally catastrophic situations.
SDrill Dig9.5/10Drill directly to the Holy Mountain, skipping enemies entirely. In combat, Luminous Drill + Damage Field kills everything in a line instantly.
SHoly Mountain9.5/10Rush to each Holy Mountain, carefully edit wands with available spells, and build the most powerful combination possible before proceeding.

Detailed Builds Analysis

Fire Mage (A-Tier)

Fire spells (Firebolt, Fireball, Flamethrower) deal massive damage and ignite enemies. The fire spreads to oil and wood, creating chain reactions. The risk: fire ignites YOU if you're covered in oil or blood. Fire Immunity perk eliminates self-damage and makes fire builds dominant.

Best with: Fireball wand, Fire Immunity perk, oil flask for fuel Stat focus: Fire Immunity perk (mandatory), wand cast speed, spell damage

Electricity Build (A-Tier)

Electric spells (Thunder Charge, Lightning Bolt, Electric Arc) chain through water, hitting multiple enemies. In watery biomes, a single lightning spell can clear entire rooms. Electricity Immunity perk is essential since water conducts shock damage to you as well.

Best with: Thunder Charge wand, Electricity Immunity perk, water flask Stat focus: Electricity Immunity perk, wand mana capacity, chain range

Polymorph Chaos (B-Tier)

Polymorph spells transform enemies into sheep or other harmless creatures. The Chaotic Polymorph variant has unpredictable results — enemies might become stronger. It's the funniest build but the least reliable. Unstable Polymorphine (liquid) transforms anything it touches.

Best with: Polymorph spell, Chaotic Polymorph, Polymorphine flasks Stat focus: Wand cast speed, polymorph charges, mobility spells

Drill Dig (S-Tier)

The Luminous Drill spell bores through all terrain and enemies. Combined with Damage Field modifier, it creates a beam that destroys everything in a line. The Drill Dig build bypasses level design entirely by tunneling directly to exits. Chainsaw (0 cast delay) enables infinite-cast wand tricks.

Best with: Luminous Drill, Chainsaw (cast delay reducer), Damage Field modifier Stat focus: Wand with low cast delay, Luminous Drill spell, Damage Field or Explosion modifier

Holy Mountain (S-Tier)

The meta-build: spend time in each Holy Mountain (between levels) perfecting your wand. The best Noita players spend 5-10 minutes per Holy Mountain theorycrafting wand combinations. The Holy Mountain is where runs are won or lost — a perfectly built wand trivializes the remaining levels.

Best with: Whatever the Holy Mountain shop offers, combined optimally Stat focus: Wand editing knowledge, spell synergy understanding, perk selection

Equipment Analysis

Luminous Drill: A spell that creates a beam drilling through terrain and enemies. Combined with Damage Field, it becomes a death ray. Combined with modifiers like Homing, it seeks targets automatically. The most versatile spell in the game — it handles digging, combat, and exploration.

Chainsaw: A 0-cast-delay spell that, when placed before other spells in a wand, eliminates cast delay for the entire wand. This creates rapid-fire wands that dump all spells nearly instantly. It's a modifier more than a weapon — its value is in enabling broken wand builds.

Thunder Charge: An electric projectile that chains to nearby enemies and conductors (water, metal). In flooded caves, a single Thunder Charge can kill 10+ enemies through chain lightning. Requires Electricity Immunity to safely use in wet environments.

Homing Perk: A perk (not a spell) that makes ALL your projectiles seek enemies. This transforms any wand into a guided weapons system. Homing + Split + any projectile = self-guided death cloud that hunts down every enemy in the area.

Nuke: A spell that creates a nuclear explosion destroying massive amounts of terrain and killing everything in a huge radius — including you without Explosion Immunity. The Nuke is the highest-damage single spell but requires careful positioning or immunity perks.

Meta Analysis

The current meta in Noita centers on pixel physics and wand building. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one.

What's strong right now:

  • Fire Mage with Luminous Drill is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
  • spell combinations builds are gaining ground as players find new synergies.
  • Polymorph Chaos remains essential for learning hard content.

What's underrated:

  • Electricity Build is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
  • Thunder Charge offers excellent performance for its investment level.

What's overhyped:

  • Pure Holy Mountain builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
