Blue Prince drops you into Mount Holly, a manor whose floor plan redraws itself every morning. You play the heir, and the estate only passes to you if you reach Room 46, a room that should not fit inside a house that has 45. Each day is a fresh draft, and the knowledge you carry out of a failed run matters far more than the rooms you drew.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Entrance Hall
  2. Lockpick → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Shovel → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Sledgehammer → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Treat door count as the primary drafting stat for the first half of a day. A mediocre room with three exits keeps a run alive far longer than a strong room that dead ends, because every sealed direction permanently shrinks the map you can still reach.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
