Quantic Dream's branching drama puts you in control of three androids, Kara, Connor and Markus, in a Detroit set in 2038. There is no combat build and no gear here: scenes are decided by timed dialogue, quick-time inputs and a flowchart that records every branch you did not open. The PlayStation 4 version arrived on 25 May 2018 and the Steam release followed on 18 June 2020.

Detroit: Become Human features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

Jericho: Starting Area

The rusting freighter where deviant androids hide, and the base for every Markus chapter once he finds it. Choices here set the peaceful or violent tone for the rest of the revolution.

What to Do Here

Stratford Tower: Early Game

A broadcast centre Markus infiltrates to address the city, and one of the few chapters with a hard fail state. The wording of the broadcast moves public opinion immediately.

The Eden Club: Mid Game

An android club where Connor and Hank chase a lead. It is short, uncomfortable by design, and contains one of the game's clearest tests of whether Connor is still a machine.

Zlatko's house: Late Game

Kara and Alice take shelter with a collector who is not what he claims to be. Exploring the house rather than trusting the host is what opens the good branches.

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Scene reconstruction should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Chapter select creates a new timeline mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into Kamski's house.

Kamski's house: Endgame

The CyberLife founder's lakeside home, and the setting for the single most discussed choice in the game. Whatever Connor does here reshapes his final chapter.

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Deviant and empathy first play for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: Jericho → Stratford Tower → The Eden Club → Zlatko's house → Kamski's house. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
