Drive Beyond Horizons entered Early Access on 24 March 2025, published by Tacty Studio and Santor Games, and it asks whether you can keep a rusted car alive on an endless procedurally generated road. You start at Home with a barely running Dada, scavenge parts from 24 documented points of interest, and manage fuel, oil, radiator water, hunger and thirst at the same time. Up to four players can share the road in online co-op.
Drive Beyond Horizons features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Home | Hour one, before your first drive | Starter Dada, car radio, cleaning supplies, food cans, soda cans, energy drinks, first aid kit | Musgoat |
| 2 | Gas Station | Spawns beside the road at any distance | Bulk petrol and diesel, canned food, containers | Musgoat |
| 3 | Garage | Spawns beside the road at any distance | Whole donor cars, tires, engine and interior parts | Dada |
| 4 | California Motel | Mid run, once you have cargo space | Consumables, decor items, container loot | Dada |
| 5 | Minefield | Skip until you can repair at the roadside | Nothing worth the parts bill, drive around it | Dada |
Home: Starting Area
The starting property, with a garage, a water tank behind the house, and loose parts scattered around the front and back exteriors. A basket on the garage's left wall holds cleaning supplies and there is always a car radio on the first table.

|---|---|
| Difficulty | Hour one, before your first drive |
| Key Rewards | Starter Dada, car radio, cleaning supplies, food cans, soda cans, energy drinks, first aid kit |
| Recommended Build | Musgoat |
| Key Equipment | V8 Petrol Engine |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Part by part vehicle assembly. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Gas Station.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Gas Station: Early Game
A run down convenience store and pump island ringed by chain link fence. The pumps carry both fuel types with green nozzles for petrol and red for diesel, and they fill containers as well as tanks.

|---|---|
| Difficulty | Spawns beside the road at any distance |
| Key Rewards | Bulk petrol and diesel, canned food, containers |
| Recommended Build | Musgoat |
| Key Equipment | V8 Petrol Engine |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Fuel and fluid upkeep. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for V8 Petrol Engine if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Garage.
Garage: Mid Game
A small mechanic shop with two roller doors. It can contain up to two cars plus parts and tires across the floor, which makes it the single best restoration stop on the road. A Large Garage variant also exists.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Spawns beside the road at any distance |
| Key Rewards | Whole donor cars, tires, engine and interior parts |
| Recommended Build | Dada |
| Key Equipment | V8 Petrol Engine |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- I4 Petrol Engine becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Procedural road and points of interest for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
California Motel: Late Game
One of the twelve major points of interest and a multi room building rather than a single container. It takes far longer to clear than a bus stop or a billboard, and it pays out accordingly.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid run, once you have cargo space |
| Key Rewards | Consumables, decor items, container loot |
| Recommended Build | Dada |
| Key Equipment | I4 Petrol Engine |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- I4 Petrol Engine should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Road hazards and enemies mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Minefield.
Minefield: Endgame
A hazard rather than a loot stop. Landmines are one of the four hostile entities in the game and a single detonation will take wheels and body panels off a finished car.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Skip until you can repair at the roadside |
| Key Rewards | Nothing worth the parts bill, drive around it |
| Recommended Build | Dada |
| Key Equipment | I4 Petrol Engine |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Bonphiac for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Home → Gas Station → Garage → California Motel → Minefield. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
