inZOI is KRAFTON's life simulator, built in Unreal Engine 5 by the Korean studio of the same name and in Steam Early Access since late March 2025. It is unfinished on purpose: the build moved to Unreal Engine 5.6 with version 0.8.0 in April 2026, the studio has publicly targeted a 1.0 launch in early 2027, and several headline roadmap items including prisons and the Canvastown mod hub have been announced rather than shipped. What exists today is three cities, a character creator with hundreds of options, build tools, an active job system and a set of generative AI features that turn photos into in-game objects.
inZOI features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dowon | First save, any experience level | Broadest career coverage, densest neighbourhood detail, high school property | IT Developer |
| 2 | Bliss Bay | Second save once you know the needs system | Creative career tracks, coastal build lots, high school property | IT Developer |
| 3 | Cahaya | Third save, or first if you want the visual change | Travel Agent career, distinct architecture and vegetation, high school property | Architect |
| 4 | High school campuses | Requires a teenage Zoi in the household | Graduation into Young Adult, school-based relationships, structured daily routine | Architect |
| 5 | Active job workplaces | Any Zoi with a salaried career | Faster career progression, workplace relationships, visible skill gains | Architect |
Dowon: Starting Area
The Korean-inspired city and the most developed of the three, with the widest set of career options after the version 0.8.0 update. A mini-map to make Dowon easier to move around was still in early development as of the March 2026 developer update.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | First save, any experience level |
| Key Rewards | Broadest career coverage, densest neighbourhood detail, high school property |
| Recommended Build | IT Developer |
| Key Equipment | Build and Craft mode |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Karma and reincarnation. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Bliss Bay.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Bliss Bay: Early Game
The Los Angeles-inspired city, sunnier and more spread out than Dowon, and the second city that received the Architect, IT Developer, Journalist and Music Producer tracks in April 2026. Its layout rewards owning a vehicle more than Dowon's does.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Second save once you know the needs system |
| Key Rewards | Creative career tracks, coastal build lots, high school property |
| Recommended Build | IT Developer |
| Key Equipment | Build and Craft mode |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering City Edit god mode. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Build and Craft mode if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Cahaya.
Cahaya: Mid Game
The Indonesia-inspired city added after Early Access launch. It received the Travel Agent profession in the April 2026 update but carries fewer surrounding systems than the two original cities, which is normal for the newest content in an Early Access build.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Third save, or first if you want the visual change |
| Key Rewards | Travel Agent career, distinct architecture and vegetation, high school property |
| Recommended Build | Architect |
| Key Equipment | Build and Craft mode |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Create a Zoi editor becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Multitasking and Zoi autonomy for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
High school campuses: Late Game
Active high school gameplay landed in June 2026 with school properties in Dowon, Bliss Bay and Cahaya. Teenage Zois enrol as students and attend until they graduate into the Young Adult stage, giving family saves a progression track.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Requires a teenage Zoi in the household |
| Key Rewards | Graduation into Young Adult, school-based relationships, structured daily routine |
| Recommended Build | Architect |
| Key Equipment | Create a Zoi editor |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Create a Zoi editor should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Careers and freelance work mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Active job workplaces.
Active job workplaces: Endgame
Rather than sending a Zoi into a black box for eight hours, inZOI's active job system lets you follow them to work for supported careers. Coverage is uneven across career tracks, which is one of the clearer markers of the game's Early Access state.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Any Zoi with a salaried career |
| Key Rewards | Faster career progression, workplace relationships, visible skill gains |
| Recommended Build | Architect |
| Key Equipment | Create a Zoi editor |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Travel Agent for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Dowon → Bliss Bay → Cahaya → High school campuses → Active job workplaces. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
