Myth of Empires is an ancient Chinese-themed open-world survival MMO focused on building an empire through territorial conquest, NPC army management, and siege warfare. Unlike typical survival games, you recruit and command AI soldiers who defend your territory, patrol borders, and fight in organized formations during sieges. The horse breeding system produces progressively better mounts across generations, and PvP revolves around scheduled territory wars where clans attack each other's fortified positions with siege equipment. The setting spans diverse biomes from bamboo forests to snow mountains.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Central Plains
- Composite Bow → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Repeating Crossbow → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Halberd → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying — one strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Recruit 10 NPC soldiers before building your first permanent base. Undefended bases get raided within hours on PvP servers.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
