NGU IDLE is 4G's free to play incremental game, on Steam since 1 October 2019 after topping the Kongregate idle charts. It layers an RPG and inventory system over the numbers, with more than 300 hand drawn bosses, over 350 equipment pieces and 47 adventure zones. Energy, Magic and EXP feed a stack of systems that unlock at fixed boss numbers.
This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (Tutorial Zone)
The second Adventure location, unlocked by beating boss 4, A Small Mouse, and home to the Training Set.
Level/Difficulty: Boss 4 onward Key Rewards: Training Set and your first Adventure experience
What to Do in Tutorial Zone
- Learn Energy and Magic allocation. Energy powers Basic Training, Augmentations, Advanced Training and Wandoos. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
- Pick Magic heavy build as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
- Systems unlock at fixed boss numbers, so pushing bosses is the real progression track. Adventure and Inventory open at boss 4, Augmentations at boss 17, the Time Machine at boss 30 and Blood Magic at boss 37.
- Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Forest Set or whatever's available.
- Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 2: Early Game (The Sky)
The zone that drops the Pissed Off Key, the single item that opens the endless tower.
Level/Difficulty: Mid Normal progression Key Rewards: Pissed Off Key and ITOPOD access
What to Do in The Sky
- Work on Boss gated feature unlocks. Systems arrive at set boss numbers. This system becomes critical from here on.
- Farm for Forest Set if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
- Idle Attack is always available, fires every second and adds 20 percent HP regeneration, but it locks out every other skill. Manual fighting is much stronger, so switch to it for any fight that actually matters.
- Complete all objectives before pushing to High Security Base.
- Consider whether Energy heavy build might suit your playstyle better than Magic heavy build.
Phase 2 Checklist

- Forest Set acquired
- The Sky fully cleared
- Ready for High Security Base
Phase 3: Mid Game (High Security Base)
The zone after The Sky, dropping the HSB Set and marking the end of the true early game.
Level/Difficulty: Post Sky Normal progression Key Rewards: HSB Set
What to Do in High Security Base
- Master Adventure zones and gear sets. Each of the 47 zones drops its own equipment set, from the Training Set in the Tutorial Zone through Sewers, Forest and Cave, then on through Evil and Sadistic tier zones. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
- Start working toward Sewers Set. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
- In manual fights Block recharges fastest, so press it whenever it is available. Piercing Attack and Ultimate Attack carry the longest cooldowns and should be saved for the moment the enemy is exposed.
- This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
- Start investing in Titans on long cooldowns for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.
Phase 3 Checklist
- Adventure zones and gear sets mastered
- Sewers Set acquired or in progress
- High Security Base fully cleared
- Ready for Mega Lands

Phase 4: Late Game (Mega Lands)
A late Normal zone with the Mega Set, and a source of components used in deeper unlock chains later on.
Level/Difficulty: Late Normal progression Key Rewards: Mega Set plus quest and unlock components
What to Do in Mega Lands
- Finalize your build. You should be running Energy heavy build or Magic heavy build with optimized gear.
- Sewers Set should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
- The first six Titans unlock at bosses 58, 66, 82, 100, 116 and 132: Gordon Ramsay Bolton, Grand Corrupted Tree, Jake from Accounting, UUG The Unmentionable, Walderp and The Beast.
- Rebirth and challenge runs optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
- Farm this area for the resources needed to push into ITOPOD.
Phase 4 Checklist
- Build fully optimized
- Sewers Set upgraded to max
- Mega Lands fully cleared
- Ready for ITOPOD
Phase 5: Endgame (ITOPOD)
The Infinite Tower Of Pain Or Death, an endless stack of floors opened by consuming the Pissed Off Key from The Sky.
Level/Difficulty: Endless, scales with your stats Key Rewards: Uncapped EXP and drops with no zone ceiling
What to Do in ITOPOD
- ITOPOD tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
- Titan cooldowns start at a 60 minute minimum and drop by 15 minutes for every No Rebirth challenge you finish. Clearing those challenges is effectively buying yourself extra Titan attempts per day.
- The endgame loop: run ITOPOD, optimize gear, push harder content.
- Experiment with Manual titan fighter for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.

Common Progression Mistakes
- Delaying the first rebirth. Holding one long early run wastes far more than it earns, because the permanent multipliers compound.
- Fighting Titans on Idle Attack, which disables every other skill and will not clear a Titan at the intended progression point.
- Spreading Energy thinly across every system at once instead of capping the one that gates your current boss.
- Mixing equipment from different zones for higher raw stats and losing the set bonus in the process.
- Sitting in one Adventure zone long after the set is complete. The next zone's set is the upgrade, not more of the same drops.
