Complete The Sims 4 equipment guide. Every equipment option ranked with stats, best builds, and how to get them.

The Sims 4 is Maxis/EA's life simulation game where you create virtual people (Sims) and control their lives, relationships, careers, and homes. Now free-to-play, the base game offers character creation, building, and life simulation with dozens of expansion, game, and stuff packs adding new worlds, careers, and gameplay features. The game's robust Build Mode and Create-A-Sim tools make it as much a creative platform as a life simulator. The Gallery lets players share and download creations from millions of community uploads.

Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path

The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Willow Creek
  2. Build Mode → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. CAS Full Edit → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Money Cheats → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Equipment Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying — one strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Use bb.moveobjects for better building — it removes all placement restrictions, letting you overlap items, place objects anywhere, and create realistic cluttered spaces.
  • Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
