Cornerpond is a fishing idler from foolsroom, released on 21 April 2025, designed to sit in a small window in the corner of your screen while you do something else. Your character casts automatically and only asks for input when a big catch bites, and the money from selling fish buys rod, bait, and inventory upgrades. The store page advertises five biomes and more than 100 fish to log in the journal.
Cornerpond features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lake | Start of the game | Starter journal entries, the money that funds the Beach unlock | Orb Power |
| 2 | Beach | After roughly 5000 banked | A second journal set, higher value fish than the Lake | Orb Power |
| 3 | Arctic | Mid-game | Mid-tier journal entries, better per-fish sale value | Rod Power |
| 4 | Catacombs | Late mid-game | Rarer journal entries, higher value catches | Rod Power |
| 5 | Cosmos | Endgame | Final journal entries, the highest value fish in the game | Rod Power |
Lake: Starting Area
The starting spot and the only one you can return to for free, which matters because every other destination charges per visit. It is where the early journal entries and your first few thousand in cash come from.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Start of the game |
| Key Rewards | Starter journal entries, the money that funds the Beach unlock |
| Recommended Build | Orb Power |
| Key Equipment | Minnow |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Automatic casting. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Beach.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Beach: Early Game
The first paid destination. A community guide lists 5000 to unlock and 200 for each visit, so do not unlock it until Fish Inventory can carry a trip worth the travel cost.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | After roughly 5000 banked |
| Key Rewards | A second journal set, higher value fish than the Lake |
| Recommended Build | Orb Power |
| Key Equipment | Minnow |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Big catch prompts. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Minnow if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Arctic.
Arctic: Mid Game
The third destination in the community location list. Costs are higher than the Beach and the fish are worth more, which is where bait quality starts paying for itself.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid-game |
| Key Rewards | Mid-tier journal entries, better per-fish sale value |
| Recommended Build | Rod Power |
| Key Equipment | Minnow |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Worms becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Travel fees per location for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Catacombs: Late Game
A later destination and a tonal break from the outdoor biomes. By this point Max Bait Capacity matters more than Rod Power because trips are long and travel costs recur.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Late mid-game |
| Key Rewards | Rarer journal entries, higher value catches |
| Recommended Build | Rod Power |
| Key Equipment | Worms |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Worms should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Journal completion mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Cosmos.
Cosmos: Endgame
The last destination in the community list, which also names a Sky location between the Catacombs and here. Note that the Steam page advertises five biomes while community guides list six spots including the starting Lake.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Endgame |
| Key Rewards | Final journal entries, the highest value fish in the game |
| Recommended Build | Rod Power |
| Key Equipment | Worms |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Quests for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Lake → Beach → Arctic → Catacombs → Cosmos. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
