Holyday Studios launched Firestone into Early Access on 26 September 2019 and shipped the 1.0 version on 1 April 2024. You field a party of up to five heroes plus one guardian against waves of enemies in the setting of Alandria, and the party keeps fighting while you are offline. Progress comes from research trees, slot-based gear enchanting and repeated ascensions rather than from manual combat input.
Firestone: Online Idle RPG features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Campaign | Stage 1 onward, reset on every ascension | Hero unlocks, gold, firestones and the meteorites that gate tier 2 and tier 3 gear | Mage |
| 2 | Chaos Rift | Endgame, after substantial account progress | Endgame currency and the reason to build a guardian setup separate from your campaign one | Mage |
| 3 | War Machines | Mission 1 onward, progresses independently of the hero campaign | A second progression track that keeps earning when the hero party is stuck | Warrior |
| 4 | Guild Expeditions | Available once you join a guild | Guild tree bonuses and shared objectives with other players | Warrior |
| 5 | Alchemist | Unlocks during the early to mid campaign | Experiment results that feed the wider upgrade trees | Warrior |
Campaign: Starting Area
The main stage progression through Alandria, where hero unlocks are gated behind specific stages: Boris at stage 2, Solaine at stage 7, Leo at stage 150. Stalling here is the normal signal that it is time to ascend.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Stage 1 onward, reset on every ascension |
| Key Rewards | Hero unlocks, gold, firestones and the meteorites that gate tier 2 and tier 3 gear |
| Recommended Build | Mage |
| Key Equipment | Chestplate |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Five hero party plus one guardian. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Chaos Rift.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Chaos Rift: Early Game
Endgame content with its own rules. Guardian bonuses from research, experiments, exotics, guild trees and talents do not increase guardian damage here, so the loadout that carries your campaign will not carry this.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Endgame, after substantial account progress |
| Key Rewards | Endgame currency and the reason to build a guardian setup separate from your campaign one |
| Recommended Build | Mage |
| Key Equipment | Chestplate |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Slot-based gear enchanting. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Chestplate if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in War Machines.
War Machines: Mid Game
A separate campaign where your machines fight enemy machines and other players' machines. Battle speed options are available from Mission 1, which keeps the early missions from dragging.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mission 1 onward, progresses independently of the hero campaign |
| Key Rewards | A second progression track that keeps earning when the hero party is stuck |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Chestplate |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Weapon becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Firestone and Meteorite research trees for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Guild Expeditions: Late Game
The cooperative side of the game, run through guilds and fellowships. Guild trees feed bonuses back into your account, though not into guardian damage inside Chaos Rift.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Available once you join a guild |
| Key Rewards | Guild tree bonuses and shared objectives with other players |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Weapon |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Weapon should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Ascension resets mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Alchemist.
Alchemist: Endgame
The research screen where alchemist experiments run on their own timers alongside the Firestone and Meteorite trees. It is passive income for your account, so leaving experiments idle is a straight loss.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Unlocks during the early to mid campaign |
| Key Rewards | Experiment results that feed the wider upgrade trees |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Weapon |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Paladin for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Campaign → Chaos Rift → War Machines → Guild Expeditions → Alchemist. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
