Kingdom Two Crowns arrived on 11 December 2018 from Raw Fury, and it is the entry that finally lets a reign continue across five islands instead of ending the moment you lose your crown. You ride left and right through a side scrolling pixel kingdom, drop coins to recruit vagrants from camps, hand out bows, hammers and scythes, and hold the walls when the Greed come for the crown at night. Two monarchs can share one save in local or online co-op. The campaign roster now runs Europe, the free Shogun and Dead Lands settings, the paid Norse Lands, and Call of Olympus, which launched on 8 October 2024.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Archer | S | Holding a wall line, early coin income from hunting, and every island where the Greed arrive in numbers rather than in bosses. | Made by paying a recruited vagrant for a bow. |
| Builder | A | Wall upgrades, overnight repairs, and any strategy that intends to hold ground rather than retreat between islands. | Made by paying a vagrant for a hammer. |
| Farmer | A | Every strategy, since coins pay for everything else, and especially for islands four and five where costs rise sharply. | Made by paying a vagrant for a scythe on cleared farmland. |
| Squire and Knight | B | Attacking Greed portals, escorting a monarch away from the wall, and the final push into the mountain cave on each island. | Paying a shield at the second tier house turns a villager into a squire, and swords bought at the forge upgrade squires into knights. |
| Ballista | B | Blood moon defence, the heavier Greed on islands three and later, and covering a wall section you cannot staff with enough archers. | A tower mounted siege weapon unlocked through the Ballista Hermit on island one. |
S-Tier: Archer
Made by paying a recruited vagrant for a bow. Archers hunt rabbits and deer for coins by day and shoot the Greed from behind the wall by night. The Statue of Archery, available on island one, permanently raises what they do, which makes it one of the first gem sinks worth taking.

| Tier | S |
| Best For | Holding a wall line, early coin income from hunting, and every island where the Greed arrive in numbers rather than in bosses. |
| Key Mechanic | Coins, vagrants and tool assignment |
| Recommended Build | Europe |
How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.
Best builds using Archer: Pairs naturally with Europe thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Builder
Made by paying a vagrant for a hammer. Builders raise and upgrade walls and towers, repair damage after a night attack and are the only reason a broken wall is back up by the next sunset. In Norse Lands they are tougher than usual and carry shields.

A-Tier: Farmer
Made by paying a vagrant for a scythe on cleared farmland. Farmers are the coin engine of the whole game, and the Statue of Scythe on island two improves them. The Bakery Hermit on island three, identifiable by the pink chef's hat, feeds recruitment and population growth.

B-Tier: Squire and Knight
Paying a shield at the second tier house turns a villager into a squire, and swords bought at the forge upgrade squires into knights. Each squire gathers four archers behind them, so this pair is how you move an army rather than a crowd toward a portal.

B-Tier: Ballista
A tower mounted siege weapon unlocked through the Ballista Hermit on island one. It fires heavy bolts that punch through the larger Greed that ordinary arrows barely slow, and it needs a builder nearby to keep it repaired after a hard night.

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Island I
- Builder → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Farmer → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Archer → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Coins are the only order you can give. Everything from recruiting a vagrant to upgrading a wall runs through dropping coins, so the whole game reduces to deciding what your purse funds next.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
