Lords Mobile: Kingdom Wars reached Steam on 2 June 2019, three years after IGG shipped it on phones, and it runs against the same live servers as the mobile build. It is IGG's own PC client rather than a bundled Android emulator, and a bound account carries progress both directions between Steam, iOS and Android. Download is free, in-app purchases are heavy, and every upgrade past Castle 20 is paced around speed-ups you either farm for weeks or buy.
This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

See our maps guide for detailed area breakdowns.
Phase 1: Getting Started (Your Turf)
The base you actually upgrade: Castle, Academy, Barracks, Wall, Traps and the Shelter that hides troops while you are offline or asleep.
Level/Difficulty: Castle 1 to 25 Key Rewards: Resource production, training queues, and the 200,000 troop march cap at Castle 25
What to Do in Your Turf
- Learn Castle upgrades up to level 25. Castle 25 is the ceiling and it sets your march size at 200,000 troops. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
- Pick Physical damage heroes as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
- Bind your account to an IGG ID or a social login the first time you open the Steam client. Progress lives on the account, not the install, and an unbound guest account on Steam cannot be recovered if you reinstall.
- Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Ranged or whatever's available.
- Clear all main content before moving on.
Phase 1 Checklist
- Understand Castle upgrades up to level 25 fundamentals
- Physical damage heroes selected and functional
- Your Turf main content cleared
- Ready for The kingdom map
Phase 2: Early Game (The kingdom map)
The kingdom map is the first real challenge beyond the basics.
Level/Difficulty: Early Key Rewards: Progression materials and gear upgrades
What to Do in The kingdom map
- Work on Troop counter loop across three types. Infantry, Ranged and Cavalry beat each other in a closed loop, while Siege Engines exist only to chew through Walls and Traps. This system becomes critical from here on.
- Farm for Ranged if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
- Never end a session with troops sitting in the Barracks and no shield. Put them in the Shelter or burn a peace shield, because scouts read your Turf and zeroed troops cost more to replace than any shield costs.
- Complete all objectives before pushing to Darknests.
- Consider whether Tank heroes might suit your playstyle better than Physical damage heroes.
Phase 2 Checklist
- Troop counter loop across three types integrated into gameplay
- Ranged acquired
- The kingdom map fully cleared
- Ready for Darknests
Phase 3: Mid Game (Darknests)
Guild rally targets that hold defending troops rather than scripted monsters. Slot leaders and War Familiars before the rally timer runs out or you waste the whole march.
Level/Difficulty: Darknest levels 1 to 5, guild content only Key Rewards: Guild Fest points, Coalition rewards and materials that single player content never drops
What to Do in Darknests
- Master Hero recruitment and the Colosseum ladder. Heroes are pulled and levelled with Hero Medals, then geared in the Forge from Monster Hunt materials. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
- Start working toward Infantry. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
- Rank Trickster before you rank anything with a bigger attack number. A permanent research boost compounds across every research line for months, and Lords Mobile is a game where boosts stack rather than a game where one fight decides anything.
- This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
- Start investing in Guild rallies on monsters and Darknests for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.
Phase 3 Checklist
- Hero recruitment and the Colosseum ladder mastered
- Infantry acquired or in progress
- Darknests fully cleared
- Ready for The Colosseum
Phase 4: Late Game (The Colosseum)
Hero versus hero ladder that ignores your Castle level entirely. A Castle 12 account with well ranked heroes will beat a Castle 22 account that never levelled them.
Level/Difficulty: Any Castle level; hero rank and skills decide the result Key Rewards: Daily Gems, ladder placement rewards and free reroll attempts
What to Do in The Colosseum
- Finalize your build. You should be running Tank heroes or Physical damage heroes with optimized gear.
- Infantry should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
- Do the Colosseum reset every day even at low hero ranks. The Gems it pays fund Forge crafting and Academy speed-ups, and skipping it is the single most common way free players fall behind paying ones.
- Kingdom vs Kingdom and Guild Fest events optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
- Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Hero Stages.
Phase 4 Checklist
- Build fully optimized
- Infantry upgraded to max
- The Colosseum fully cleared
- Ready for Hero Stages
Phase 5: Endgame (Hero Stages)
The single player campaign chapters where five hero teams clear waves. This is the main early source of Hero Medals and the materials your Forge needs.
Level/Difficulty: Chapters scale alongside hero levels 1 to 60 Key Rewards: Hero Medals, Forge materials, speed-ups and a steady Gem trickle
What to Do in Hero Stages
- Hero Stages tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
- Send one troop type against the largest stack a defender holds instead of a balanced mix. Battle Boosts multiply the counter bonus, and a pure counter march beats a mixed march of the same size.
- The endgame loop: run Hero Stages, optimize gear, push harder content.
- Experiment with Economy boost heroes for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
- This is where Kingdom vs Kingdom and Guild Fest events mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.
Phase 5 Checklist
- Endgame content on farm
- Best-in-slot gear acquired
- Hero Stages fully cleared
- Ready for challenge content
Common Progression Mistakes
- Playing on Steam as a guest account, then losing everything on reinstall because it was never bound.
- Rushing Castle level while leaving Academy research half finished, which caps troop quality regardless of Castle number.
- Logging off with troops in the Barracks and no shield, then finding a zeroed Turf in the morning.
- Building a balanced troop mix for offence instead of sending one counter type against the biggest enemy stack.
- Ignoring the Colosseum for weeks, which quietly costs thousands of free Gems.
Key Tips for Smooth Progression
- Bind your account to an IGG ID or a social login the first time you open the Steam client. Progress lives on the account, not the install, and an unbound guest account on Steam cannot be recovered if you reinstall.
- Never end a session with troops sitting in the Barracks and no shield. Put them in the Shelter or burn a peace shield, because scouts read your Turf and zeroed troops cost more to replace than any shield costs.
- Rank Trickster before you rank anything with a bigger attack number. A permanent research boost compounds across every research line for months, and Lords Mobile is a game where boosts stack rather than a game where one fight decides anything.
- Do the Colosseum reset every day even at low hero ranks. The Gems it pays fund Forge crafting and Academy speed-ups, and skipping it is the single most common way free players fall behind paying ones.
- Send one troop type against the largest stack a defender holds instead of a balanced mix. Battle Boosts multiply the counter bonus, and a pure counter march beats a mixed march of the same size.
