Asobo Studio released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on 19 November 2024 as a separate product from the 2020 sim, built around a career mode rather than free flight alone. The Standard Edition ships more than 65 aircraft and the world engine draws on over 500 TIN cities, more than 100,000 square kilometres of countryside photogrammetry, roughly 1.5 billion buildings and close to 3 trillion trees. Career progression runs through more than 20 certifications, each opening specialisations from skydive drops up to heavy cargo.
Boss fights are where Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

Courchevel Altiport Bosses
Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: Attempt after the PPL, in a light single Recommended build: Search and Rescue with Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX
Strategy
The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. You start unlicensed and buy your way up through the Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, Instrument Rating and Airline Transport Pilot Licence, with a separate Jet ATP rating on top. This is your primary tool here.
Key tips:
- Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
- Use Career mode with certifications to create safe windows.
- Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX is enough to handle everything here.
Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla Bosses
Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: Intermediate, with turboprop or STOL experience Recommended build: Search and Rescue with Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX
Strategy
Early game bosses test your understanding of Specialisations and mission payouts. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.
Key tips:
- Specialisations and mission payouts is critical for these fights.
- Farm Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX upgrades if you're struggling.
- Consider switching to Search and Rescue if your current setup isn't working.
Innsbruck Airport Bosses
Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: Intermediate to advanced, best after the Instrument Rating Recommended build: Skydive with Cessna 172 Skyhawk
Strategy
Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.
Key tips:
- You need both Career mode with certifications and Aircraft wear and maintenance mastery.
- Cessna 172 Skyhawk makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
- See our combat guide for advanced techniques.
Paro International Airport Bosses
Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: Advanced, airliner or turboprop Recommended build: Skydive with Cessna 172 Skyhawk
Strategy
Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.
Key tips:
- Make sure your build is fully optimized.
- Cessna 172 Skyhawk at max upgrade is recommended.
- Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.
Gustaf III Airport, Saint Barthelemy Bosses
Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: Intermediate, light twin or turboprop Recommended build: Skydive with Cessna 172 Skyhawk
Strategy
Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.
Key tips:
- Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
- Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
- These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.
General Boss Tips
- Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
- Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
- Upgrade your equipment: A max-upgraded Cessna 172 Skyhawk trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
- Use Career mode with certifications: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
- Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
