Overcooked! 2 drops up to four chefs into one collapsing kitchen across 36 campaign levels spread over six worlds, plus eight unlockable Kevin levels. The Onion King read aloud from the Necro-nomnom-icon and raised an undead bread army called the Unbread, which is why the Onion Kingdom needs feeding again. Every level scores one to three stars on tips earned before the clock stops, not on how many dishes you cooked.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (World 1)

Teaches the throw, the sink and the ticket rail on flat kitchens, then breaks the pattern with a hot air balloon that crashes mid level and drops you into a city sushi restaurant. Treat it as the tutorial for reading a layout before the timer starts.

Level/Difficulty: Levels 1-1 to 1-6 Key Rewards: Stars toward World 2, first Kevin level unlocks

What to Do in World 1

  1. Learn Tip multiplier on consecutive orders. Serving orders back to back builds a tip bonus that stacks, and letting an order expire knocks it back down. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Cook as your starting role. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Play any new level once with no intention of scoring. Learn where the hobs, sink and hatch sit, then restart and cook against the clock with a plan instead of discovering the layout at ticket three.
  4. Acquire your first weapons upgrade: Hob and pot or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Tip multiplier on consecutive orders fundamentals
  • Cook selected and functional
  • World 1 main content cleared
  • Ready for World 2

Phase 2: Early Game (World 2)

Moves into mines and sea rafts, where the floor slides and chefs get separated by water. This is where the throw stops being optional and starts being the only way to move food.

Level/Difficulty: Levels 2-1 to 2-6 Key Rewards: Stars toward World 3, split kitchen practice

What to Do in World 2

  1. Work on Throwing ingredients. Overcooked! 2 added a throw button that sends raw or chopped items straight into a pot, onto a counter, or into another chef's hands. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Hob and pot if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Assign a dedicated dishwasher from the first serve, not from the moment you run dry. Three plates covers roughly the first minute, and by the time the last one is dirty you are already ninety seconds behind.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to World 3.
  5. Consider whether Prep chef might suit your playstyle better than Cook.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Throwing ingredients integrated into gameplay
  • Hob and pot acquired
  • World 2 fully cleared
  • Ready for World 3

Phase 3: Mid Game (World 3)

The magic castle set, with portals linking distant parts of the kitchen and platforms that carry you between them. Items thrown into a portal come out the other side, which turns a long walk into a one second toss.

Level/Difficulty: Levels 3-1 to 3-6 Key Rewards: Stars toward World 4, portal routing practice

What to Do in World 3

  1. Master Plate washing bottleneck. Most kitchens hand you about three plates, and once all three are dirty a finished dish has nowhere to go. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Chopping board. It's the best weapon and becomes accessible around now.
  3. Throw chopped ingredients directly into pots and pans rather than carrying them. In kitchens split by water or a gap this is the difference between five orders and nine in the same window.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Shifting kitchen layouts for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Plate washing bottleneck mastered
  • Chopping board acquired or in progress
  • World 3 fully cleared
  • Ready for Worlds 4 to 6

Phase 4: Late Game (Worlds 4 to 6)

The back half runs through swamp kitchens, quantum kitchens that rearrange themselves and a final stretch that stacks recipes on top of each other. Level 6-6 alone asks for salad, sashimi, sushi, pasta, burrito, pizza, cake and pancakes.

Level/Difficulty: Levels 4-1 to 6-6 Key Rewards: Campaign completion, remaining Kevin unlocks

What to Do in Worlds 4 to 6

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Prep chef or Cook with optimized gear.
  2. Chopping board should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Leave a chef mid chop before you switch away or run off. The chopping animation continues without you, so a parked chef is free labour while you handle the hob.
  4. Order tickets with individual timers optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Kevin levels.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Chopping board upgraded to max
  • Worlds 4 to 6 fully cleared
  • Ready for Kevin levels

Phase 5: Endgame (Kevin levels)

Eight bonus stages named after the Onion King's dog, unlocked by hitting hidden score targets on specific campaign levels. They serve steamed buns and are noticeably harder than the stage they came from.

Level/Difficulty: Unlocked from Worlds 1 to 6 Key Rewards: Eight extra levels and their own star totals

What to Do in Kevin levels

  1. Kevin levels tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Watch the smoke on pots and pans. Smoke is the last warning before a fire, and putting out a blaze costs more time than the dish you were rescuing was ever worth.
  3. The endgame loop: run Kevin levels, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Runner for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where Order tickets with individual timers mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • Kevin levels fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Leaving plate washing until every plate is dirty, which stalls finished food at the pass
  • Two chefs walking the same route and blocking each other in a narrow kitchen
  • Cooking tickets strictly in the order they appear instead of by preparation time
  • Ignoring smoking pots until the kitchen is on fire
  • Carrying single items on foot when a throw would cover the same distance instantly

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Play any new level once with no intention of scoring. Learn where the hobs, sink and hatch sit, then restart and cook against the clock with a plan instead of discovering the layout at ticket three.
  2. Assign a dedicated dishwasher from the first serve, not from the moment you run dry. Three plates covers roughly the first minute, and by the time the last one is dirty you are already ninety seconds behind.
  3. Throw chopped ingredients directly into pots and pans rather than carrying them. In kitchens split by water or a gap this is the difference between five orders and nine in the same window.
  4. Leave a chef mid chop before you switch away or run off. The chopping animation continues without you, so a parked chef is free labour while you handle the hob.
  5. Watch the smoke on pots and pans. Smoke is the last warning before a fire, and putting out a blaze costs more time than the dish you were rescuing was ever worth.
