PopCap released Plants vs. Zombies on 5 May 2009, and the Game of the Year Edition is the build Steam still sells today. Adventure Mode runs 50 levels across five settings, supported by 49 plants, 26 zombie types and 21 Steam achievements. Dr. Zomboss closes the campaign at level 5 to 10 in his own machine.

Upgrade Path
Early Game (Day to Night)
- Upgrade your starting equipment to functional level
- Craft basic defensive gear
- Save specialty materials, since you'll need them later
- Focus on Sunflower once accessible
Mid Game (Pool)
- Push Sunflower to mid-level upgrades
- Start collecting materials for Peashooter
- Craft situational consumables for boss fights
- Upgrade build-specific gear pieces
Late Game (Fog to Roof)
- Max out Peashooter. This is your top priority
- Complete your build's core gear set
- Craft endgame consumables
- Optional: upgrade secondary equipment for variety
Crafting Mistakes to Avoid
- Spreading upgrades across multiple equipment: Focus one weapon to max before diversifying.
- Hoarding materials: Use them. The game provides enough if you farm efficiently.
- Upgrading the wrong gear: Check our builds guide before investing.
- Ignoring Pool farming: This area has the best resource-to-time ratio in mid-game.
- Crafting consumables too early: Save specialty materials for late-game recipes.
Resource Efficiency Tips
- Plant the first two columns entirely with Sunflowers before you plant a single shooter. Sun is the only currency in the game, and a lawn that reaches roughly eight producers by wave three can afford Melon-pults later while a rushed defence never can.
- Farm Pool during mid-game for the best return on time

- Match your farming route to your build. Some classes farm faster in certain areas
