Ranch Simulator hands you a run down family homestead in a forested valley and a blueprint book, then leaves you to rebuild it board by board. You raise chickens, cattle, pigs and horses, grow crops, sell milk and eggs at the General Store, and take an axe or a rifle into the woods for deer, bears and wolves. PCGamesN called it House Flipper meets Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a fair description of a game where you can spend an hour nailing planks and the next hour dragging a deer carcass to a truck.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Axe | S | Turning the forest around the homestead into free building material | The first purchase at the Hardware Store, used to fell trees for the logs that feed the table saw. |
| Crowbar | A | Tearing out rotten walls and floors during the renovation phase | The demolition tool for stripping the derelict farmhouse back to a frame you can rebuild. |
| Table Saw | A | Building coops, barns and fences without draining your cash | Cuts felled logs into the planks every blueprint consumes, which is what stops you paying the Hardware Store for lumber. |
| Handgun | B | Wolf defence and early meat income before you can afford a rifle | Found in a chest in the attic of the old farmhouse during the tutorial, and enough to kill a wolf in one shot for two wild meat. |
| Hunting Rifle | B | Deer and bears, where a handgun round is not enough | The proper hunting weapon, added in a later update, and the sensible answer to deer at range and bears at any range. |

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Your Homestead
- Crowbar → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Table Saw → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Axe → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Buy the axe, crowbar and table saw from the Hardware Store before anything else, because cutting your own planks removes the biggest early cash drain.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
