RoboCop: Rogue City puts you in the titanium body of Alex Murphy as RoboCop, patrolling a crime-ridden Old Detroit straight out of the original 1987 film. The Auto-9 pistol is your permanent, infinitely reloading signature weapon that you upgrade throughout the game, complemented by picked-up weapons from enemies. Investigation segments between action missions have you solving crimes and making moral choices that affect the story. The environmental destruction lets you shred cover, walls, and vehicles with gunfire, delivering the power fantasy of being an unstoppable cyborg cop.
This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. Follow this path to avoid common traps that stall most players.

Phase 1: Getting Started — Old Detroit Streets

Level/Difficulty: Throughout Game Key Rewards: Side missions, reputation, collectibles, random encounters, street XP
What to Do in Old Detroit Streets
- Learn Auto-9 pistol system. The Auto-9 is RoboCop's signature weapon with infinite ammo and permanent upgrades. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
- Pick Gunslinger as your starting role. It's the most forgiving option.
- The Auto-9 is the only weapon that upgrades permanently — every skill point in it carries to every future mission. Prioritize Auto-9 upgrades over picked-up weapons.
- Acquire your first weapons upgrade — Cobra Assault Cannon or whatever's available.
- Clear all main content before moving on.
Phase 1 Checklist
- Understand Auto-9 pistol system fundamentals
- Gunslinger selected and functional
- Old Detroit Streets main content cleared
- Ready for OCP Headquarters
Phase 2: Early Game — OCP Headquarters
The corporate headquarters where story missions and briefings occur. Contains investigation opportunities and corporate intrigue. Dialogue choices here significantly affect the story's direction. No combat — pure narrative and investigation.
Level/Difficulty: Story Missions Key Rewards: Story progression, investigation XP, corporate plotline, moral choices
What to Do in OCP Headquarters
- Work on OCP skill tree. Eight skill categories upgrade RoboCop's abilities: Combat, Armor, Engineering, Focus, Deduction, Vitality, Psychology, and Scanning. This system becomes critical from here on.
- Farm for Cobra Assault Cannon if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
- Focus mode (slow-motion) recharges by dealing damage. In large fights, activate Focus, get headshot kills, and it refills before it runs out. Essentially infinite slow-mo.
- Complete all objectives before pushing to Steel Mill.
- Consider whether Tank Build might suit your playstyle better than Gunslinger.
Phase 2 Checklist
- OCP skill tree integrated into gameplay
- Cobra Assault Cannon acquired
- OCP Headquarters fully cleared
- Ready for Steel Mill
Phase 3: Mid Game — Steel Mill
Industrial combat zone with heavy enemy concentrations and destructible machinery. The open floor plan allows for creative destruction — shoot gas pipes to create explosions, drop steel beams on enemies. One of the best action missions.
Level/Difficulty: Mid-Game Key Rewards: Heavy combat XP, environmental kill opportunities, Cobra Assault Cannon pickup
What to Do in Steel Mill
- Master investigation mechanics. Between action missions, you investigate crime scenes, interview witnesses, and solve cases. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
- Start working toward Auto-9 (Signature Pistol). It's the best weapon and becomes accessible around now.
- Shoot through thin cover (wooden walls, car doors, drywall) to kill enemies hiding behind it. RoboCop's weapons penetrate most standard cover materials.
- This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
- Start investing in environmental destruction for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.
Phase 3 Checklist
- investigation mechanics mastered
- Auto-9 (Signature Pistol) acquired or in progress
- Steel Mill fully cleared
- Ready for Nuke Cult Hideout
Phase 4: Late Game — Nuke Cult Hideout
Underground bunker filled with fanatical cultists and booby traps. Close-quarters combat in tight corridors favors the shotgun and melee. The investigation segment here reveals cult motivations and ties to the main plot.
Level/Difficulty: Mid-Late Game Key Rewards: Investigation revelations, close-quarters combat, unique enemy types, story twists
What to Do in Nuke Cult Hideout
- Finalize your build. You should be running Tank Build or Gunslinger with optimized gear.
- Auto-9 (Signature Pistol) should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
- Investigation clues glow faintly in the environment. Invest in Scanning to increase detection range from 5m to 20m, making clue hunting trivial.
- moral choices optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
- Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Downtown Precinct.
Phase 4 Checklist
- Build fully optimized
- Auto-9 (Signature Pistol) upgraded to max
- Nuke Cult Hideout fully cleared
- Ready for Downtown Precinct
Phase 5: Endgame — Downtown Precinct
RoboCop's police station hub where you interact with fellow officers, receive assignments, and access the evidence locker. Dialogue with Lewis, Reed, and other officers provides story context and optional side missions.
Level/Difficulty: Hub (Persistent) Key Rewards: Mission briefings, officer interactions, evidence review, side mission access
What to Do in Downtown Precinct
- Downtown Precinct tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
- Grabbing enemies and throwing them at other enemies deals 200 damage to both and ragdolls the group. Free damage with no ammo cost.
- The endgame loop: run Downtown Precinct, optimize gear, push harder content.
- Experiment with Berserker for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
- This is where moral choices mastery separates good players from great ones.
Phase 5 Checklist
- Endgame content on farm
- Best-in-slot gear acquired
- Downtown Precinct fully cleared
- Ready for challenge content
Common Progression Mistakes
- Investing skill points in picked-up weapons instead of the Auto-9 — picked-up weapons are temporary while Auto-9 upgrades are permanent.
- Playing behind cover like a normal FPS when RoboCop is designed to walk through gunfire — your armor regenerates, use it aggressively.
- Rushing through investigation segments and missing XP from unfound clues — scan everything, talk to everyone, examine all evidence.
- Ignoring moral consistency — mixing compassionate and aggressive choices results in the weakest ending rather than a balanced one.
- Not using environmental destruction tactically — shooting propane tanks, gas lines, and electrical panels near enemy groups clears rooms for free.
Key Tips for Smooth Progression
- The Auto-9 is the only weapon that upgrades permanently — every skill point in it carries to every future mission. Prioritize Auto-9 upgrades over picked-up weapons.
- Focus mode (slow-motion) recharges by dealing damage. In large fights, activate Focus, get headshot kills, and it refills before it runs out. Essentially infinite slow-mo.
