CodeManu and Endless Coffee build this one, HypeTrain Digital publishes it, and it entered Early Access on 23 May 2025 with more than 2,000 items and over 500 handcrafted structures already in. You wash up on a main island with three larger islands and a scatter of smaller ones around it, and progress is gated by tool tier rather than by character level. There are no skill trees at all: whatever you have equipped decides whether you are a melee, ranged or magic character that afternoon, and the developers built a set of miscellaneous accessories they call the Classless Class for people who refuse to pick. Bosses are summoned deliberately with crafted items rather than stumbled into, so the pace of a save is entirely yours to set.
Tinkerlands features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grasslands | Opening hours, first boss | Slimeking fight, the Guide's crafting menu, the Bard's heat resistance buff | Ranged |
| 2 | Swamp | Early to mid game | Frog Prince's Crown, Poison Gland, Bubble Spell, Baba Yaga access | Ranged |
| 3 | Caves | Mid game, after basic cold protection | Spider Bow, Spider Staff, Jungle Map, Grim Reaper drop table | Melee |
| 4 | Goblin Island | Level 4 island, late mid game | Huntress Blade, Huntress Bow, Teeth | Melee |
| 5 | Coraline Fields | Endgame for the current Early Access build | Pressurized Bow, Ocean Staff, Merman Trident | Melee |
Grasslands: Starting Area
The starter biome on the main island, where the Guide waits and Slimeking is summoned. The wandering Bard also appears here and grants a heat resistance buff, which is worth hunting down before any trip into the Desert Biome.

|---|---|
| Difficulty | Opening hours, first boss |
| Key Rewards | Slimeking fight, the Guide's crafting menu, the Bard's heat resistance buff |
| Recommended Build | Ranged |
| Key Equipment | Spider Bow |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Gear defined classes with no skill tree. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Swamp.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Swamp: Early Game
Home of the Frog Prince, summoned by placing 5 Eye of Newt on an altar, and later the site of the Baba Yaga encounter triggered by a purple fog event. It is also one of the four Thumper sites for the Iron Devourer ritual.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Early to mid game |
| Key Rewards | Frog Prince's Crown, Poison Gland, Bubble Spell, Baba Yaga access |
| Recommended Build | Ranged |
| Key Equipment | Spider Bow |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Boss summon items and ritual altars. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Spider Bow if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Caves.
Caves: Mid Game
Reached through an entrance in the Snow Biome, with the Mineral Spider at the centre and the Pumpkin Biome holding the Grim Reaper deeper in. Visibility underground is poor enough that the Low Specs Mode graphics option is genuinely useful rather than a downgrade.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid game, after basic cold protection |
| Key Rewards | Spider Bow, Spider Staff, Jungle Map, Grim Reaper drop table |
| Recommended Build | Melee |
| Key Equipment | Spider Bow |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Jelly Knife becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Tool tier gating on harvesting for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Goblin Island: Late Game
A Level 4 island where the Huntress is summoned by destroying four purple goo factories rather than by crafting a summon item. She drops the Huntress Blade, the Huntress Bow and Teeth, which makes her worth the trip for both melee and ranged builds.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Level 4 island, late mid game |
| Key Rewards | Huntress Blade, Huntress Bow, Teeth |
| Recommended Build | Melee |
| Key Equipment | Jelly Knife |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Jelly Knife should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Four player online co-op mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Coraline Fields.
Coraline Fields: Endgame
The underwater zone whose centre holds the Deep Sea King, summoned by igniting four braziers. It sits at the end of the current Early Access progression and its drop table covers all three archetypes with the Pressurized Bow, Ocean Staff and Merman Trident.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Endgame for the current Early Access build |
| Key Rewards | Pressurized Bow, Ocean Staff, Merman Trident |
| Recommended Build | Melee |
| Key Equipment | Jelly Knife |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Hybrid for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Grasslands → Swamp → Caves → Goblin Island → Coraline Fields. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
