Transformice is Atelier 801's free multiplayer platformer where a room full of mice race to grab a piece of cheese and carry it back to a hole, while one player is chosen as the Shaman and builds the route with planks, boxes, anvils and balloons. The Shaman scores by saving other mice, and after 1,000 saves hard mode unlocks, then divine mode at 5,000 saves with at least 2,000 of them in hard mode. Five skill trees, Spiritual Guide, Wind Master, Mechanician, Wildling and Physicist, hold 15 skills each across six branches, so what a Shaman can summon changes considerably between two players at the same level.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Little Plank | S | Short spans, ramps and the first anchored piece of any build. | A 100 by 10 pixel plank and the basic building block for every bridge and ramp. |
| Big Box | A | Pillars under a plank, blocking a gap and giving mice a step up. | A 60 by 60 pixel solid box. |
| Anvil | A | Counterweights, holding a hinged plank down, and Survivor rounds where killing mice is the point. | A 30 by 30 pixel object with far more mass than its size suggests. |
| Trampoline | B | Vertical gaps, and getting a whole room upward when there is no time to build stairs. | A 100 by 20 pixel object with a high restitution top surface and moderate friction underneath. |
| Balloon | B | Lifting individual mice, and temporary platforms on maps with no anchor points. | A 30 pixel floating object that lifts what it is attached to and pops under enough weight. |
S-Tier: Little Plank
A 100 by 10 pixel plank and the basic building block for every bridge and ramp. Two anchored little planks reach further than one large plank placed badly, because the joint between them can be angled.

|---|---|
| Tier | S |
| Best For | Short spans, ramps and the first anchored piece of any build. |
| Key Mechanic | Cheese and hole scoring |
| Recommended Build | Spiritual Guide |
How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.
Best builds using Little Plank: Pairs naturally with Spiritual Guide thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Big Box
A 60 by 60 pixel solid box. Boxes are for blocking, stacking and holding a plank at a fixed height, and stacking two of them unanchored is how most inexperienced builds fall over during the round.

|---|---|
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Pillars under a plank, blocking a gap and giving mice a step up. |
| Key Mechanic | Shaman summoning |
| Recommended Build | Wind Master |
How to get it: Accessible in the early-to-mid game. Check our maps guide for the location.
Best builds using Big Box: Pairs naturally with Wind Master thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Anvil
A 30 by 30 pixel object with far more mass than its size suggests. Anvils weigh down a structure that is trying to tip, and they crush mice standing beneath them, which is why they belong on top of a build and never on the path.

Best builds using Anvil: Pairs naturally with Mechanician thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
B-Tier: Trampoline
A 100 by 20 pixel object with a high restitution top surface and moderate friction underneath. It launches mice upward without needing any structure above it, which solves vertical maps that a plank bridge cannot.

|---|---|
| Tier | B |
| Best For | Vertical gaps, and getting a whole room upward when there is no time to build stairs. |
| Key Mechanic | Hard mode and divine mode |
| Recommended Build | Wildling |
How to get it: Found in later areas. Our walkthrough covers when you can access this.

B-Tier: Balloon
A 30 pixel floating object that lifts what it is attached to and pops under enough weight. Attached to a mouse it carries them upward, and attached to a plank it holds a platform in mid air until something heavy stands on it.

| Key Mechanic | Skill trees |
| Recommended Build | Physicist |

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Vanilla
- Big Box → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Anvil → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Little Plank → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Build toward the cheese first and worry about the hole second. Rounds are on a timer and a room that never reaches the cheese scores nothing, whereas a room holding cheese will usually find a way back even over a rough return path.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
