Warframe Walkthrough — Start to Endgame

Step-by-step Warframe walkthrough covering every phase from first session to endgame. Complete progression guide with milestones and checklists.

Warframe is Digital Extremes' free-to-play cooperative action game where you play as space ninjas (Tenno) piloting biomechanical suits (Warframes) with over 50 unique frames each having distinct abilities. The game features some of the best movement mechanics in gaming — bullet-jumping, wall-running, and sliding create fluid parkour combat. With 13+ years of continuous updates, Warframe has evolved from a simple corridor shooter into a massive game with open worlds, space combat, story quests, and a player-driven economy.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. Follow this path to avoid common traps that stall most players.

Phase 1: Getting Started — Plains of Eidolon

The first open-world zone on Earth with day/night cycle. Daytime has bounties, mining, and fishing. Nighttime spawns Eidolons — massive boss enemies requiring specific gear. Eidolon Hunts are endgame group content rewarding Arcanes.

Level/Difficulty: MR 0+ (bounties), MR 10+ (Eidolons) Key Rewards: Eidolon Arcanes, Quill standing, Zaw weapons, operator upgrades

What to Do in Plains of Eidolon

  1. Learn mod system. Mods are cards that enhance weapons and Warframes. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Mesa as your starting role. It's the most forgiving option.
  3. Mod ranking matters more than weapon choice — a properly modded MK-1 Braton outperforms an unmodded endgame weapon. Invest Endo and Credits into ranking essential mods.
  4. Acquire your first weapons upgrade — Kuva Zarr or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand mod system fundamentals
  • Mesa selected and functional
  • Plains of Eidolon main content cleared
  • Ready for Orb Vallis

Phase 2: Early Game — Orb Vallis

A frozen open-world on Venus with Corpus enemies, K-Drive hoverboards, and Orb Mother boss fights. Contains Fortuna as its hub town. More mechanically complex than Plains with Conservation, mining, and fishing.

Level/Difficulty: MR 3+ (bounties), MR 15+ (Orb Mothers) Key Rewards: Orb Mother drops, Kitgun weapons, Moa companions, Conservation animals

What to Do in Orb Vallis

  1. Work on void relics. Relics are items cracked open in Void Fissure missions to receive Prime parts. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Kuva Zarr if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Corrupted mods from Derelict Vaults (Dragon Key runs) are essential — Blind Rage, Overextended, Narrow Minded, and Transient Fortitude are build-defining mods.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to Cambion Drift.
  5. Consider whether Saryn might suit your playstyle better than Mesa.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • void relics integrated into gameplay
  • Kuva Zarr acquired
  • Orb Vallis fully cleared
  • Ready for Cambion Drift

Phase 3: Mid Game — Cambion Drift

An Infested open-world on Deimos with unique Entrati-family vendors, Necramech combat, and Isolation Vault bounties. The most visually distinctive zone with biological horror aesthetics.

Level/Difficulty: MR 5+ (bounties) Key Rewards: Helminth segment, Necramech, Xaku components, father tokens

What to Do in Cambion Drift

  1. Master mastery rank. Your account-wide level that increases by leveling new weapons and Warframes to max. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Kuva Bramma. It's the best weapon and becomes accessible around now.
  3. Rhino carries you through early-mid game — his Iron Skin is invulnerability, Roar buffs team damage, and Stomp freezes enemies. Get him from Venus boss.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in open world bounties for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • mastery rank mastered
  • Kuva Bramma acquired or in progress
  • Cambion Drift fully cleared
  • Ready for Steel Path

Phase 4: Late Game — Steel Path

A game-wide hard mode unlocked after completing every node on the star chart. All enemies are level 100+ with added armor and health. Steel Path rewards include Steel Essence (currency for unique rewards) and increased mod/resource drops.

Level/Difficulty: MR 10+ (star chart complete) Key Rewards: Steel Essence, Arcon Shards, increased drops, challenge content

What to Do in Steel Path

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Saryn or Mesa with optimized gear.
  2. Kuva Bramma should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Trade Prime parts for Platinum (premium currency) — cracking Void Relics produces tradeable Prime parts. Selling full Prime sets to other players funds your entire account.
  4. Helminth system optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into The Void.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Kuva Bramma upgraded to max
  • Steel Path fully cleared
  • Ready for The Void

Phase 5: Endgame — The Void

Ancient Orokin towers containing challenging enemies and Void Relics as rewards. Void missions are part of the core progression loop. Corrupted enemies have randomized buffs. Void also contains Corrupted Mod farming via Dragon Key runs.

Level/Difficulty: MR 2+ Key Rewards: Void Relics, Corrupted Mods (Dragon Key runs), Argon Crystals

What to Do in The Void

  1. The Void tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Nightwave (battle pass) gives free catalysts, reactors, Nitain Extract, and cosmetics. Complete weekly challenges for Nightwave standing. It's the best free reward system.
  3. The endgame loop: run The Void, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Octavia for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where Helminth system mastery separates good players from great ones.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • The Void fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Spending Platinum on regular items from the market — Platinum should be used for Warframe/weapon slots, cosmetics, and trading. Almost everything can be farmed for free.
  • Not installing Orokin Catalysts/Reactors on good equipment — without doubling mod capacity, your gear operates at half power. Prioritize these on your main Warframe and weapons.
  • Ignoring mod ranking — an unranked Serration gives +15% damage; a max rank gives +165%. The difference is enormous. Spend Endo on ranking essential mods first.
  • Selling Warframes/weapons before mastering them (level 30) — you need to max every item once for Mastery Rank XP. Selling early means buying/building again later.
  • Not using the trade system — player-to-player trading is how you get Platinum without spending money. Sell Prime parts, mods, and Arcanes to other players for Platinum.

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Mod ranking matters more than weapon choice — a properly modded MK-1 Braton outperforms an unmodded endgame weapon. Invest Endo and Credits into ranking essential mods.
  2. Corrupted mods from Derelict Vaults (Dragon Key runs) are essential — Blind Rage, Overextended, Narrow Minded, and Transient Fortitude are build-defining mods.
  3. Rhino carries you through early-mid game — his Iron Skin is invulnerability, Roar buffs team damage, and Stomp freezes enemies. Get him from Venus boss.
  4. Trade Prime parts for Platinum (premium currency) — cracking Void Relics produces tradeable Prime parts. Selling full Prime sets to other players funds your entire account.
  5. Nightwave (battle pass) gives free catalysts, reactors, Nitain Extract, and cosmetics. Complete weekly challenges for Nightwave standing. It's the best free reward system.
