World of Tanks Blitz runs 7 versus 7 tank battles with no artillery class at all, which makes it a sharply different game from the PC title it was cut down from. Tanks run from tier I to tier X across Soviet, German, American, British, French, Japanese, Chinese, European and Hybrid trees. Spotting is capped hard: nothing is visible past 445 metres, anything inside 50 metres is spotted automatically, and firing a shot strips your camouflage for five seconds.

This guide covers everything you need: core mechanics, the best characters, weapons worth investing in, location progression, and the tips that actually make a difference.

Core Mechanics

Seven versus seven battles

Every standard match is seven players a side with no self propelled artillery in the game at all. With so few tanks per team, one player pushing alone into a crossfire loses the flank outright rather than costing the team a fraction of its firepower.

Armour angling and weak spots

Effective armour rises as you angle your hull, so sidescraping behind a building can bounce shells that would punch straight through a flat plate. Every tank also has fixed weak spots such as lower front plates, turret cupolas and machine gun ports.

Spotting and camouflage

Maximum spotting distance is 445 metres and everything within 50 metres is spotted regardless of concealment. Your camouflage drops heavily for five seconds after firing and to a smaller degree while moving your hull, which is why shoot and reposition beats holding a bush.

Shell types and penetration

Standard armour piercing rounds are the default, premium rounds trade credits for penetration, and high explosive ignores penetration in exchange for weak damage against thick armour. Firing HE at a heavy's front plate wastes a reload that could have gone into a tracked side.

Equipment and consumables

Each tank mounts equipment in fixed slots and carries consumables such as a repair kit, first aid kit, automatic fire extinguisher and adrenaline. Consumables are the difference between a fixed track that costs three seconds and one that costs the match.

Weapons Guide

WeaponWhy It MattersBest For
IS-7Soviet tier X heavy with a heavily sloped front and a tough turret.City brawls on Himmelsdorf and Middleburg where the fight is corners and short range.
Concept 1BAmerican tier X heavy with a two shell autoloader and a strong hull down turret, widely rated the strongest Blitz tier X pick since the rebalance.Ridge lines and rubble piles where you can hide the hull and fire two shells before anyone answers.
Grille 15German tier X tank destroyer built around high penetration and damage per shot, with almost no armour and a limited traverse arc.Holding a long lane on Dead Rail or Oasis Palms from second line positions.
AMX 50 BFrench tier X heavy autoloader that delivers a full clip in seconds then disappears for a long magazine reload.Punishing isolated enemies and finishing damaged tanks late in a round.
T-100 LTSoviet tier X light tank, fast and well concealed, but limited by the 445 metre spotting cap that stops Blitz lights from playing pure passive scout.Wide flanks, rear armour shots on tank destroyers and contesting the base in the final minute.

IS-7: Soviet tier X heavy with a heavily sloped front and a tough turret. It bounces shells simply by driving straight at people, which few tanks in the game can claim.

Concept 1B: American tier X heavy with a two shell autoloader and a strong hull down turret, widely rated the strongest Blitz tier X pick since the rebalance.

Grille 15: German tier X tank destroyer built around high penetration and damage per shot, with almost no armour and a limited traverse arc.

AMX 50 B: French tier X heavy autoloader that delivers a full clip in seconds then disappears for a long magazine reload.

T-100 LT: Soviet tier X light tank, fast and well concealed, but limited by the 445 metre spotting cap that stops Blitz lights from playing pure passive scout.

Himmelsdorf: A dense European town with a railyard on one side and a hill topped by a castle on the other. The hill decides map control while the streets below decide the brawl.

Mines: An island map built around a central hill that overlooks almost everything. Teams that take the hill early usually win, and teams that all rush it usually lose the flanks.

Dead Rail: A Blitz map of desert rail sidings, rolling stock and a mining site, with long firing lanes broken by wagon cover. Tank destroyers thrive here and slow heavies get caught in the open.

Oasis Palms: A desert settlement with a built up centre and open sand around it. The interior is close quarters heavy territory and the outer ring belongs to anything with a good gun.

Middleburg: A European settlement split between a built up quarter and more open ground, which forces a team to divide between a brawling flank and a shooting flank.

Tips That Actually Matter

  1. Angle the hull before you finish aiming. Effective armour rises with the angle, and a heavy that presents 30 degrees of slope bounces shells that would go straight through the same plate held flat.
  2. Shoot and move. Firing costs five seconds of concealment, so the position that just worked is the position the enemy is now aiming at, and standing still to admire the hit is how tank destroyers die.
  3. Learn three weak spots per common enemy tank rather than memorising whole armour models. Lower front plate, turret cupola and the machine gun port cover most cases and each one turns a bounce into full damage.
  4. In 7 versus 7 a single loss is a seventh of your firepower. Trading one for one is neutral at best, so push only where you have a numbers advantage and never solo brawl a corner two enemies are holding.
  5. Do not fire high explosive at thick frontal armour. HE ignores penetration but does little through heavy plate, so save it for open topped tank destroyers, light tanks and finishing a target on low health.
  6. Save one repair kit for a track hit that traps you in the open. Burning it on a track you could have driven out of leaves you helpless for the one that would have killed you.
  7. Spotting caps at 445 metres and everything inside 50 metres is spotted no matter what, which means Blitz light tanks cannot play passive scout across the map. Use speed for flanking damage instead.
  8. Watch the clock. Blitz rounds are short, and a team that is ahead on health should trade time rather than positions, while a team that is behind has to force the base or the flank early.
  9. Autoloaders are a timing weapon, not a damage weapon. Unload when the enemy has just fired or is isolated, then leave the fight completely until the magazine is back rather than fighting through the reload.
  10. Fight alongside at least one ally at every corner. The corner belongs to whoever has the second gun, because the first tank to peek eats the shot and the second gets the free hit.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Driving flat toward the enemy instead of angling, which turns strong sloped armour like the IS-7 hull into an easy penetration.
  • Holding a firing position after the shot. Camouflage drops for five seconds every time you fire, so the second shot from the same bush is usually the one that gets you killed.
  • Loading premium rounds for everything, which drains credits without helping against targets your standard armour piercing shell already penetrates.
  • Playing light tanks as passive spotters like the PC game. The 445 metre spotting cap means Blitz lights must flank and shoot rather than sit and watch.
  • Rushing the middle hill on Mines with the whole team, which leaves both flanks open and hands the enemy a free path to your base.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there artillery in Blitz?

No. Blitz has no self propelled artillery class at all, which is one of the biggest structural differences from the PC version. Every tank in a match is a heavy, medium, light or tank destroyer.

How does spotting work?

Maximum spotting distance is 445 metres. Everything within 50 metres is spotted automatically regardless of concealment, and firing removes a large part of your camouflage for five seconds while moving your hull removes a smaller part.

Which nations are in the game?

The Soviet, German, American, British, French, Japanese and Chinese trees, plus a European tree that absorbed the Czech, Swedish, Polish and Italian lines in update 6.3, and a Hybrid tree of mixed and fictional designs.

What should I grind first as a new player?

A single mid tier heavy line and stop there until you can hold a corner reliably. Tier for tier, heavies teach angling, sidescraping and weak spot aiming, which are the three skills that carry into every other class.

Are premium rounds required to compete?

No. Standard armour piercing shells penetrate most targets you will meet at your own tier if you aim at lower plates and cupolas. Premium rounds are a credit expensive answer to specific heavily armoured tanks, not a default loadout.
