World of Tanks Blitz runs 7 versus 7 tank battles with no artillery class at all, which makes it a sharply different game from the PC title it was cut down from. Tanks run from tier I to tier X across Soviet, German, American, British, French, Japanese, Chinese, European and Hybrid trees. Spotting is capped hard: nothing is visible past 445 metres, anything inside 50 metres is spotted automatically, and firing a shot strips your camouflage for five seconds.
World of Tanks Blitz features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Himmelsdorf | Mid and high tier matchmaking | Castle hill high ground, railyard cover, tight street brawls | Medium tanks |
| 2 | Mines | Low to high tier matchmaking | Central hill overwatch, rock cover on both flanks | Medium tanks |
| 3 | Dead Rail | Mid and high tier matchmaking | Long rail lanes, wagon cover, mining site flank | Heavy tanks |
| 4 | Oasis Palms | Mid and high tier matchmaking | Town centre brawl ground, open flank sightlines | Heavy tanks |
| 5 | Middleburg | Mid and high tier matchmaking | Building cover in the centre, open ground firing positions | Heavy tanks |
Himmelsdorf: Starting Area
A dense European town with a railyard on one side and a hill topped by a castle on the other. The hill decides map control while the streets below decide the brawl.

|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid and high tier matchmaking |
| Key Rewards | Castle hill high ground, railyard cover, tight street brawls |
| Recommended Role | Medium tanks |
| Key Weapons | Concept 1B |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Seven versus seven battles. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first weapons upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Mines.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Mines: Early Game
An island map built around a central hill that overlooks almost everything. Teams that take the hill early usually win, and teams that all rush it usually lose the flanks.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Low to high tier matchmaking |
| Key Rewards | Central hill overwatch, rock cover on both flanks |
| Recommended Role | Medium tanks |
| Key Weapons | Concept 1B |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Armour angling and weak spots. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Concept 1B if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Dead Rail.
Dead Rail: Mid Game
A Blitz map of desert rail sidings, rolling stock and a mining site, with long firing lanes broken by wagon cover. Tank destroyers thrive here and slow heavies get caught in the open.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid and high tier matchmaking |
| Key Rewards | Long rail lanes, wagon cover, mining site flank |
| Recommended Role | Heavy tanks |
| Key Weapons | Concept 1B |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- IS-7 becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Spotting and camouflage for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Oasis Palms: Late Game
A desert settlement with a built up centre and open sand around it. The interior is close quarters heavy territory and the outer ring belongs to anything with a good gun.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid and high tier matchmaking |
| Key Rewards | Town centre brawl ground, open flank sightlines |
| Recommended Role | Heavy tanks |
| Key Weapons | IS-7 |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- IS-7 should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Equipment and consumables mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Middleburg.
Middleburg: Endgame
A European settlement split between a built up quarter and more open ground, which forces a team to divide between a brawling flank and a shooting flank.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid and high tier matchmaking |
| Key Rewards | Building cover in the centre, open ground firing positions |
| Recommended Role | Heavy tanks |
| Key Weapons | IS-7 |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Autoloader tanks for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Himmelsdorf → Mines → Dead Rail → Oasis Palms → Middleburg. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your weapons: Some areas favor different weapons types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
