Car Dealer Simulator from Garage Monkeys released on 29 May 2025 and drops you into the used car trade with a character called Little Sam teaching the basics. The loop is buy low, scan, clean, photograph, list, haggle, repeat, with tow trucks for the cars that refuse to start. Cleaning alone can add up to 12 percent to a car's value, which tells you how much of the profit lives in presentation rather than mechanics.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (Dealership Lot)

Your display space and the constraint on everything else. Cars sitting in slow red zone listings occupy lot slots, so expanding it is what allows a patient pricing strategy to work at all.

Level/Difficulty: From the first hour onward Key Rewards: Listing slots, customer footfall, room for parallel stock

What to Do in Dealership Lot

  1. Learn Scanning and market valuation. Scanning a car before you talk numbers reports its current market value based on condition. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Detail and photograph specialist as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Scan before you speak. The scan reports market value from the car's condition, and without it your opening offer is a guess dressed up as a strategy.
  4. Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Tow Truck or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Scanning and market valuation fundamentals
  • Detail and photograph specialist selected and functional
  • Dealership Lot main content cleared
  • Ready for Repair Zone

Phase 2: Early Game (Repair Zone)

Where diagnostics and part replacement happen, covering mechanical work, bodywork, painting and small touch ups. Worth upgrading only as far as your actual repair habits demand.

Level/Difficulty: Unlocked early, upgraded through the mid game Key Rewards: Drivable non runners, diagnostic reports

What to Do in Repair Zone

  1. Work on Buying and selling negotiation. Haggling gives you a limited number of attempts. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Tow Truck if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Open your buying offer 5,000 to 8,000 below the asking price. Sellers expect a haggle and the first counter is almost never the last word.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to Wash Station.
  5. Consider whether Non runner flipper might suit your playstyle better than Detail and photograph specialist.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Buying and selling negotiation integrated into gameplay
  • Tow Truck acquired
  • Repair Zone fully cleared
  • Ready for Wash Station

Phase 3: Mid Game (Wash Station)

The highest return per dollar of any facility on the property. Level 2 adds polish and wax on top of the basic wash, and thorough cleaning is worth up to 12 percent of value.

Level/Difficulty: Upgrade as early as you can afford it Key Rewards: Up to 12 percent added value, better listing photographs

What to Do in Wash Station

  1. Master Diagnostics and part replacement. Every car needs diagnostics before sale, covering mechanical faults, bodywork, painting and small touch ups. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Vehicle Scanner. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
  3. Keep candy and cigarettes from the fuel shop in your pocket permanently. Each grants an extra bargaining attempt and the typical gain is 1,000 to 3,000 dollars per negotiation.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Washing, polish and detailing for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Diagnostics and part replacement mastered
  • Vehicle Scanner acquired or in progress
  • Wash Station fully cleared
  • Ready for Fuel Shop

Phase 4: Late Game (Fuel Shop)

Sells the candy and cigarettes that grant extra bargaining attempts. They cost a rounding error and typically return 1,000 to 3,000 dollars per negotiation they are used in.

Level/Difficulty: Useful at every stage of the game Key Rewards: Extra bargain attempts, fuel for your own vehicles

What to Do in Fuel Shop

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Non runner flipper or Detail and photograph specialist with optimized gear.
  2. Vehicle Scanner should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Repairs currently cost more than they add. Fix only what makes a car drivable, such as a missing brake disc, and let the price absorb the cosmetic faults.
  4. Listings, photos and pricing zones optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Garage Computer.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Vehicle Scanner upgraded to max
  • Fuel Shop fully cleared
  • Ready for Garage Computer

Phase 5: Endgame (Garage Computer)

The management terminal for your business. The vehicles menu holds a reset option that drops every purchased car straight into your lot, which saves a great deal of driving around.

Level/Difficulty: Available from the start Key Rewards: Vehicle recall, listing management, business overview

What to Do in Garage Computer

  1. Garage Computer tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Non drivable cars are the cheapest stock available and often need one small component. Buy, tow, fix the single fault, and the markup dwarfs anything a running car returns.
  3. The endgame loop: run Garage Computer, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Staffed volume dealership for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where Listings, photos and pricing zones mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • Garage Computer fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Negotiating without scanning first, then discovering the car was worth less than the offer you just made.
  • Replacing every faulty part on principle. In the current build most repairs subtract more value than they add.
  • Rushing the wash and leaving wheels and van roofs dirty, throwing away most of the 12 percent cleaning bonus.
  • Listing everything in the green zone for a quick sale and leaving thousands of dollars on the table per car.
  • Pushing the odometer tool into the red zone. The cracking sound is the warning and there is no undo afterwards.

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Scan before you speak. The scan reports market value from the car's condition, and without it your opening offer is a guess dressed up as a strategy.
  2. Open your buying offer 5,000 to 8,000 below the asking price. Sellers expect a haggle and the first counter is almost never the last word.
  3. Keep candy and cigarettes from the fuel shop in your pocket permanently. Each grants an extra bargaining attempt and the typical gain is 1,000 to 3,000 dollars per negotiation.
  4. Repairs currently cost more than they add. Fix only what makes a car drivable, such as a missing brake disc, and let the price absorb the cosmetic faults.
  5. Non drivable cars are the cheapest stock available and often need one small component. Buy, tow, fix the single fault, and the markup dwarfs anything a running car returns.
