Computer Lunch's incremental game starts you clicking a single cell and ends somewhere past the technological singularity, covering roughly 4.5 billion years on the way. Three separate simulations run side by side: the Primary Simulation, the dinosaur-focused Mesozoic Valley, and the astronomy-focused Beyond, each with its own currency and its own reset. The Reality Reboot rework in November 2025 moved the first prestige far earlier, which means older walkthroughs get the pacing badly wrong.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entropy | S | Buying life generators and unlocking new species | The Primary Simulation's base currency, earned by tapping and then by generator nodes. |
| Ideas | A | The technology tree from agriculture through information technology | Unlocked once the tree reaches intelligence, then spent across the civilization and technology upgrades. |
| Metabits | A | Permanent multipliers that make each run faster than the last | The prestige currency, spent in the Reality Engine on permanent multipliers that carry through every reset. |
| Stardust | B | Buying planets, moons and stars out past the Solar System | The Beyond's currency, collected by tapping and generated by celestial bodies you already own. |
| Darwinium | B | Permanent upgrades rather than temporary time skips | The premium currency, available through purchases but also through achievements, daily rewards, Mesozoic Valley missions and Beyond missions. |
S-Tier: Entropy
The Primary Simulation's base currency, earned by tapping and then by generator nodes. Every upgrade on the life half of the tree is priced in Entropy, and the growth curve means a generator bought ten minutes sooner compounds for the rest of the run.

|---|---|
| Tier | S |
| Best For | Buying life generators and unlocking new species |
| Key Mechanic | Entropy generation |
| Recommended Build | Microbes and early cells |
How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.
Best builds using Entropy: Pairs naturally with Microbes and early cells thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Ideas
Unlocked once the tree reaches intelligence, then spent across the civilization and technology upgrades. Ideas and Entropy production together decide how many Metabits a prestige will pay out.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Tier | A |
| Best For | The technology tree from agriculture through information technology |
| Key Mechanic | Ideas and the tech tree |
| Recommended Build | Fish and amphibians |
How to get it: Accessible in the early-to-mid game. Check our maps guide for the location.
Best builds using Ideas: Pairs naturally with Fish and amphibians thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Metabits
The prestige currency, spent in the Reality Engine on permanent multipliers that carry through every reset. Since the Reality Reboot the first prestige lands at Ideas rather than at the Singularity, so Metabit income starts far sooner than it once did.

|---|---|
| Tier | A |
| Best For | Permanent multipliers that make each run faster than the last |
| Key Mechanic | Metabits prestige |
| Recommended Build | Reptiles and dinosaurs |
How to get it: Accessible in the early-to-mid game. Check our maps guide for the location.
Best builds using Metabits: Pairs naturally with Reptiles and dinosaurs thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
B-Tier: Stardust
The Beyond's currency, collected by tapping and generated by celestial bodies you already own. It buys planets, moons and stars, starting inside the Solar System and pushing outward from there.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Tier | B |
| Best For | Buying planets, moons and stars out past the Solar System |
| Key Mechanic | Mesozoic Valley mutations |
| Recommended Build | Mammals and primates |
How to get it: Found in later areas. Our walkthrough covers when you can access this.
Best builds using Stardust: Pairs naturally with Mammals and primates thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
B-Tier: Darwinium
The premium currency, available through purchases but also through achievements, daily rewards, Mesozoic Valley missions and Beyond missions. Spending it on permanent boosts beats spending it on one-off speedups every time.

| Key Mechanic | Stardust in the Beyond |
| Recommended Build | Civilization and technology |

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Primary Simulation
- Ideas → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Metabits → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Entropy → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Stop clicking the moment a generator outproduces your finger. The first hour rewards taps. Every hour after that rewards buying the next node instead, because the whole game is built around passive output.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
