This DDraceNetwork tier list ranks every major option by overall effectiveness. Rankings factor in damage output, survivability, versatility, gear requirements, and how well each option scales.

Tier definitions: S = best in class, always a strong pick. A = strong and competitive, minor weaknesses. B = solid but clearly outperformed in most situations. C = viable only for players who enjoy the playstyle.

Weapons Analysis

Hook: Always available, reaches about 11 blocks, and pulls you toward hookable tiles at up to roughly 20 blocks per second. It also grabs other tees, which is what makes DDNet cooperative rather than a solo obstacle course.

Hammer: The only melee tool and the one you press most often. A hit unfreezes a teammate instantly and pushes them sideways or upward, never down, which powers hammerrun, hammerjump and hammerfly.

Shotgun: Fires a straight beam that pulls any tee it strikes toward the beam, including your own. Map authors hand it out where a player needs to build speed in a direction that the hook cannot reach.

Grenade launcher: Lobs a projectile whose explosion pushes tees outward. Firing at your own feet produces the rocket jump that many Brutal and Insane parts are designed around.

Laser rifle: An automatic weapon whose beam bounces off walls until it hits a tee or runs out of range, and any tee it touches is unfrozen immediately. It solves rescues that the hammer cannot reach.

Meta Analysis

The current meta in DDraceNetwork centers on Grappling hook movement and Freeze and deep freeze tiles. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.

What's strong right now:

  • Novice runner with Hook is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
  • Hammer unfreezing builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
  • Team carry remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.

What's underrated:

  • Rank chaser is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
  • Shotgun offers excellent performance for its investment level.

What's overhyped:

  • Pure Map maker builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
