Equipment Analysis

Common gear: The baseline drop and the filler that keeps a Champion's six slots occupied. Common items still contribute slot proficiency, so an empty slot is always worse than a Common one sitting in it.

Uncommon gear: A real step up from Common and the realistic ceiling across most of your roster early on. Upgrading the slots that feed a Champion's headline ability matters far more than upgrading all six evenly.

Rare gear: Gold and Electrum chests are the practical source. Once your core formation is Rare across the board, gear contributes enough that one missing slot on your damage Champion shows up in the numbers.

Epic gear: The top base rarity and where serious formations live. Epic items on the slots scaling a Champion's primary ability are the difference between clearing an adventure and stalling ten areas short of it.

Golden Epic gear: An Epic with gold trim, granting a permanent 100 percent bonus to that slot's proficiency and overriding the 50 percent a Shiny would have given. These are the long-term chase items for Champions you never bench.

Meta Analysis

The current meta in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms centers on Formation seats and positional buffs and Divine Favor resets. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.

What's strong right now:

  • Tank with Common gear is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
  • Blessings builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
  • Support remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.

What's underrated:

  • DPS is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
  • Rare gear offers excellent performance for its investment level.

What's overhyped:

  • Pure Healing builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
