Idle Slayer is a one developer project by Pablo Leban that entered Early Access on 27 July 2020 and released on 21 December 2020, and it now carries more than 650 Steam achievements. Your slayer runs left to right on his own, jumps over gaps and kills whatever walks into him, and everything on top of that is a layer of reset. Souls buy the Skill Tree, Ascension turns progress into Slayer Points for the Ascension Tree, Ultra Ascension converts that into Ultra Slayer Points that power Stones of Time, and Astral upgrades survive the resets once you buy Astral Slayer for 500 million SP. Saves move between PC and mobile.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (Mystic Valley)

One of the early portal destinations and a reliable soul farming spot once the Village is unlocked. Soul gains here sit roughly level with the Factory and Hot Desert at that stage, so the choice between them usually comes down to which quests you are trying to complete.

Level/Difficulty: Early to mid Ascensions Key Rewards: Steady Soul income, dimension specific quest progress, crafting materials

What to Do in Mystic Valley

  1. Learn Auto running, jumping and Coins. The base loop is a side scrolling auto runner. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Dark Wizard as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Coins are the currency you see and Souls are the currency that matters. The Souls Flask and Soul Gatherer upgrades are what make enemies drop Souls at all, so buying them late slows the entire game down.
  4. Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Kishar Greatsword or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Auto running, jumping and Coins fundamentals
  • Dark Wizard selected and functional
  • Mystic Valley main content cleared
  • Ready for Hot Desert

Phase 2: Early Game (Hot Desert)

Another of the mid tier dimensions that becomes comparable to Mystic Valley and the Factory once the Village opens up. Its value comes from the specific enemies and materials it holds rather than from raw throughput.

Level/Difficulty: Early to mid Ascensions Key Rewards: Dimension specific crafting materials, quest completions, enemy unlocks

What to Do in Hot Desert

  1. Work on Souls and the Skill Tree. Every enemy drops Coins, and once you buy the Souls Flask and Soul Gatherer upgrades they drop Souls too. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Kishar Greatsword if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Soul Reaper is the main multiplier on soul rewards, while the Ascension CpS bonus is the main multiplier on coin rewards. Knowing which one a given upgrade feeds saves a lot of wasted spending.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to Factory.
  5. Consider whether White Knight might suit your playstyle better than Dark Wizard.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Souls and the Skill Tree integrated into gameplay
  • Kishar Greatsword acquired
  • Hot Desert fully cleared
  • Ready for Factory

Phase 3: Mid Game (Factory)

A dimension you visit, outgrow and then come back to. Once your Armory and enemy unlocks have progressed far enough, the Factory becomes worth revisiting rather than being a stepping stone, and fully evolving its enemies is a long term goal.

Level/Difficulty: Mid game, revisited later Key Rewards: Enemy evolutions, Armory relevant materials, sustained Soul income

What to Do in Factory

  1. Master Ascension and Ultra Ascension. Ascension resets progress and converts it into Slayer Points spent in the Ascension Tree, which includes the Ascension CpS bonus that lifts your coin income permanently. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Adranos Blade. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
  3. The Skill Tree unlocks mechanics rather than only raising numbers, which is why it deserves priority over coin upgrades that vanish on the next reset.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Minions and Divinities for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Ascension and Ultra Ascension mastered
  • Adranos Blade acquired or in progress
  • Factory fully cleared
  • Ready for Frozen Fields

Phase 4: Late Game (Frozen Fields)

Paired with the Factory as the dimension worth returning to after your unlocks catch up. Once every enemy there is fully evolved it becomes the most rewarding place to farm from that point onward, which is why long term players end up parked here.

Level/Difficulty: Late game after enemy evolutions Key Rewards: The strongest sustained Soul rate once fully evolved, high tier materials

What to Do in Frozen Fields

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running White Knight or Dark Wizard with optimized gear.
  2. Adranos Blade should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Ascend earlier than instinct suggests. Slayer Points compound through the Ascension Tree and a run held too long produces less than two shorter runs would have.
  4. The Armory and Excellent gear optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Funky Space.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Adranos Blade upgraded to max
  • Frozen Fields fully cleared
  • Ready for Funky Space

Phase 5: Endgame (Funky Space)

A late unlock and the dimension with the most rewarding enemies in the game, offset by how much health those enemies carry. It is a poor choice before your damage catches up and a strong one afterwards, which makes it a reasonable benchmark for whether your Armory is actually keeping pace.

Level/Difficulty: Late game, high damage required Key Rewards: Highest per enemy rewards, late game materials, endgame quest steps

What to Do in Funky Space

  1. Funky Space tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Chest Hunt is pure luck and the Bonus Stage is pure skill. Clearing the Chest Hunt board, by picking every Random Box or by killing every Mimic, presents Perfect Chests that can hold a Permanent Upgrade or a Mega Multiplier.
  3. The endgame loop: run Funky Space, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Slime Monster for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where The Armory and Excellent gear mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • Funky Space fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Pouring everything into coin upgrades and neglecting the Souls Flask and Soul Gatherer, which leaves the Skill Tree unfunded and every later system locked.
  • Holding a single run for far too long instead of ascending, so Slayer Points arrive in one lump rather than compounding across several resets.
  • Performing the first Ultra Ascension with a thin Ascension Tree, which resets the layer that was doing the work and makes the rebuild take much longer than it needed to.
  • Levelling swords before Shields and Staves, then discovering that an Adranos Blade past +9 was the wrong place for those resources.
  • Farming Funky Space before your damage can handle its enemy health pools, where the high per enemy rewards are cancelled out by how slowly anything dies.

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Coins are the currency you see and Souls are the currency that matters. The Souls Flask and Soul Gatherer upgrades are what make enemies drop Souls at all, so buying them late slows the entire game down.
  2. Soul Reaper is the main multiplier on soul rewards, while the Ascension CpS bonus is the main multiplier on coin rewards. Knowing which one a given upgrade feeds saves a lot of wasted spending.
  3. The Skill Tree unlocks mechanics rather than only raising numbers, which is why it deserves priority over coin upgrades that vanish on the next reset.
  4. Ascend earlier than instinct suggests. Slayer Points compound through the Ascension Tree and a run held too long produces less than two shorter runs would have.
  5. Chest Hunt is pure luck and the Bonus Stage is pure skill. Clearing the Chest Hunt board, by picking every Random Box or by killing every Mimic, presents Perfect Chests that can hold a Permanent Upgrade or a Mega Multiplier.
