Recreate Games shipped Party Animals on 20 September 2023, and the pitch is simple: puppies, kittens and gorillas punch each other off ledges using floppy ragdoll physics. Punching, grabbing, climbing and rolling all drain one shared stamina bar, so an empty bar is usually what kills you rather than the other animal. Around 70 characters exist between the base roster and Surprise Eggs, and every single one of them is cosmetic.
Party Animals features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ichiban | Last Stand mode, team or free-for-all | Round wins and match XP toward account levels | Hit and run puncher |
| 2 | Beat-Up Bridge | Last Stand mode, best with a full lobby | Round wins, cosmetic currency from finishing matches | Hit and run puncher |
| 3 | Broken Arrow | Last Stand mode | Round wins and match XP | Ledge guard grappler |
| 4 | Winter Is Coming | Last Stand mode | Round wins and match XP | Ledge guard grappler |
| 5 | Fluffy Redemption | Team Score mode, team based | Team score and match XP toward character unlocks | Ledge guard grappler |
Ichiban: Starting Area
A Last Stand map with raised platforms and plenty of edge to be shoved over. Fights collapse into a scrum in the middle within seconds, and the players who waited at the rim tend to be the ones still standing.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Last Stand mode, team or free-for-all |
| Key Rewards | Round wins and match XP toward account levels |
| Recommended Role | Hit and run puncher |
| Key Weapons | Headbutt |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Ragdoll physics control. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first weapons upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Beat-Up Bridge.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Beat-Up Bridge: Early Game
A tilting, destructible bridge that loses planks as the round goes on. Late in a match there is more gap than bridge, and the winner is whoever committed to fewer swings over open air.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Last Stand mode, best with a full lobby |
| Key Rewards | Round wins, cosmetic currency from finishing matches |
| Recommended Role | Hit and run puncher |
| Key Weapons | Headbutt |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Stamina bar. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Headbutt if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Broken Arrow.
Broken Arrow: Mid Game
Fought aboard an aircraft in flight, so the floor pitches and the open sides are a permanent threat. The plane does more killing than the other animals do.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Last Stand mode |
| Key Rewards | Round wins and match XP |
| Recommended Role | Ledge guard grappler |
| Key Weapons | Headbutt |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Punch becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Grab and throw for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Winter Is Coming: Late Game
A Last Stand map with ice underfoot that removes most of your ability to stop. Sliding is the entire map. You can chain somebody's own momentum into a fall without ever landing a hit.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Last Stand mode |
| Key Rewards | Round wins and match XP |
| Recommended Role | Ledge guard grappler |
| Key Weapons | Punch |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Punch should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Map hazards and pickups mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into Fluffy Redemption.
Fluffy Redemption: Endgame
A Team Score map where teams carry coal to a train furnace. Scoring is a delivery race, which makes blocking the enemy carrier at the furnace mouth worth more than winning a brawl in the open.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Team Score mode, team based |
| Key Rewards | Team score and match XP toward character unlocks |
| Recommended Role | Ledge guard grappler |
| Key Weapons | Punch |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Team blocker for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Ichiban → Beat-Up Bridge → Broken Arrow → Winter Is Coming → Fluffy Redemption. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your weapons: Some areas favor different weapons types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
