Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Best With | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Doom Bow | Archer and Huntress players stacking boss damage for white bag drops | An untiered bow dropped by Septavius the Ghost God in the Undead Lair. |
| Crystal Sword | Melee classes who need to trade with bosses that punish standing on top of them | An untiered sword from the Crystal Prisoner, prized because it reaches further than the tiered swords a melee class would otherwise carry. |
| Demon Blade | Knights and Warriors bridging the gap between mid tier and endgame gear | An untiered sword dropped by Archdemon Malphas. |
| Ancient Stone Sword | Newer melee characters who want a real weapon upgrade without an endgame key | An untiered sword dropped by the Stone Guardians, one of the few white bag chases that shows up in the open world rather than behind a dungeon key. |
| Staff of the Cosmic Whole | Wizards and Necromancers who want steady damage without gambling on white bags | The tier 12 staff, and the realistic damage ceiling for a Wizard or Necromancer who has not yet chased untiered drops. |

Equipment Analysis
Doom Bow: An untiered bow dropped by Septavius the Ghost God in the Undead Lair. It fires a single very heavy shot on a slow cycle, so it beats every tiered bow against a large stationary target and loses badly against a room full of small ones.
Crystal Sword: An untiered sword from the Crystal Prisoner, prized because it reaches further than the tiered swords a melee class would otherwise carry. That extra reach is what lets a Knight or Warrior stay outside a contact damage ring while still hitting.
Demon Blade: An untiered sword dropped by Archdemon Malphas. It is a straightforward damage upgrade over the tiered swords of its era and one of the more attainable white bag swords for a newer account.
Ancient Stone Sword: An untiered sword dropped by the Stone Guardians, one of the few white bag chases that shows up in the open world rather than behind a dungeon key. Groups gather for the event specifically because of it.
Staff of the Cosmic Whole: The tier 12 staff, and the realistic damage ceiling for a Wizard or Necromancer who has not yet chased untiered drops. Staff shots split into two projectiles, so the damage lands only if both connect at close range.
Meta Analysis
The current meta in Realm of the Mad God Exalt centers on Permadeath with no item recovery and Eight stats and stat potions. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.
What's strong right now:
- Wizard with Doom Bow is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
- Dungeon keys and portal chains builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
- Knight remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.
What's underrated:
- Archer is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
- Demon Blade offers excellent performance for its investment level.
What's overhyped:
- Pure Rogue builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
Quick Picks by Situation

| Group play | Priest | Ancient Stone Sword | Utility and team support |
| Experienced player | Rogue | Staff of the Cosmic Whole | Unique challenge and high ceiling |
