The Spell Brigade drops one to four wizards into a survivors-like arena where spells fire on their own and friendly fire stays switched on. Bolt Blaster Games shipped Early Access on 16 September 2024 and the 1.0 build on 29 April 2026, with seven elements and ten dual element pairings. Three finished realms plus a work in progress fourth carry every run.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (The Verdant Meadows)

The starting realm, open green fields with the lightest enemy density in the game and the cleanest sightlines for learning friendly fire spacing.

Level/Difficulty: First realm, any wizard Key Rewards: Early gold, first quest unlocks, basic scrolls

What to Do in The Verdant Meadows

  1. Learn Friendly fire between wizards. Every spell your squad casts hurts teammates as well as demons, so a fully augmented Falling Stars build can wipe your own party. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Sun Mage as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Lightning is rated the strongest element in the 1.0 tier lists because it pierces a line of enemies and adds a Thunder strike on the first hit. If you are unsure what to infuse, take Lightning twice and let the doubled version carry.
  4. Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Astral Orbs or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Friendly fire between wizards fundamentals
  • Sun Mage selected and functional
  • The Verdant Meadows main content cleared
  • Ready for The Frozen Ancients

Phase 2: Early Game (The Frozen Ancients)

Ice terrain with tighter lanes than the meadows, where a knockback pairing such as Frostbite pays for itself.

Level/Difficulty: Second realm Key Rewards: Higher gold per run, ice themed quest progress

What to Do in The Frozen Ancients

  1. Work on Elemental infusions on every spell. Each spell can carry Lightning, Fire, Acid, Wildfire, Ice, Dark or Plasma. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Astral Orbs if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Friendly fire applies to every spell in the game, so in four player games agree who holds the middle. Falling Stars and Solar Pulse builds are the ones most likely to delete a teammate by accident.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to The Pyrestorm Pit.
  5. Consider whether Reginald might suit your playstyle better than Sun Mage.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Elemental infusions on every spell integrated into gameplay
  • Astral Orbs acquired
  • The Frozen Ancients fully cleared
  • Ready for The Pyrestorm Pit

Phase 3: Mid Game (The Pyrestorm Pit)

Volcanic arena with burning ground and heavier elite pressure, which is exactly where Ludwig's elemental immunity earns its keep.

Level/Difficulty: Third realm Key Rewards: Top gold income for Enchantment farming

What to Do in The Pyrestorm Pit

  1. Master Ten dual element pairings. Stacking two elements produces a named result: Acid plus Fire gives Brimstone splash explosions, Ice plus Fire gives Frostbite knockback, and doubling Dark gives Void corruption that spreads exponentially. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Magic Missile. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
  3. Enchantment gold refunds in full at any time with no penalty, so treat the Enchantment page as a free respec. Rebuild it for the realm you are about to enter instead of leaving one loadout permanently in place.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Revive Cores for downed allies for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Ten dual element pairings mastered
  • Magic Missile acquired or in progress
  • The Pyrestorm Pit fully cleared
  • Ready for The Astral Riftlands

Phase 4: Late Game (The Astral Riftlands)

The fourth realm, still flagged work in progress on the official wiki, built on astral terrain and expanding patch by patch.

Level/Difficulty: Newest content Key Rewards: New scrolls and quest lines as updates land

What to Do in The Astral Riftlands

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Reginald or Sun Mage with optimized gear.
  2. Magic Missile should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. Luck decides the rarity of your level up offers. Reginald starts with plus 2 Luck and a 10 percent better chance at health potions and magnets, which is why he is the standard beginner pick over flashier wizards.
  4. Gold funded Enchantments in the lobby optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into The lobby.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Magic Missile upgraded to max
  • The Astral Riftlands fully cleared
  • Ready for The lobby

Phase 5: Endgame (The lobby)

The out of run hub where you pick a wizard, spend gold on Enchantments and check bounties before queuing.

Level/Difficulty: Between every run Key Rewards: Enchantment tiers 1 to 5, mastery bonuses, unlimited free refunds

What to Do in The lobby

  1. The lobby tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. When a teammate goes down, sprint to the Revive Core rather than kiting away from it. The detonation also damages the pack around the core, so a fast pickup solves two problems at once.
  3. The endgame loop: run The lobby, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Hatti for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where Gold funded Enchantments in the lobby mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • The lobby fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Standing shoulder to shoulder with teammates, which turns a stacked area build into a party wipe faster than the demons manage it.
  • Hoarding gold instead of buying Enchantments, when refunds are free and unlimited so there is nothing to save for.
  • Ignoring Luck and then wondering why every level up offers common upgrades.
  • Chasing seven different elements instead of doubling one, which skips the named pairings like Thunder and Void entirely.
  • Leaving a downed teammate's Revive Core untouched until the wave clears. The core is a resource, not a penalty.

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Lightning is rated the strongest element in the 1.0 tier lists because it pierces a line of enemies and adds a Thunder strike on the first hit. If you are unsure what to infuse, take Lightning twice and let the doubled version carry.
  2. Friendly fire applies to every spell in the game, so in four player games agree who holds the middle. Falling Stars and Solar Pulse builds are the ones most likely to delete a teammate by accident.
  3. Enchantment gold refunds in full at any time with no penalty, so treat the Enchantment page as a free respec. Rebuild it for the realm you are about to enter instead of leaving one loadout permanently in place.
  4. Luck decides the rarity of your level up offers. Reginald starts with plus 2 Luck and a 10 percent better chance at health potions and magnets, which is why he is the standard beginner pick over flashier wizards.
  5. When a teammate goes down, sprint to the Revive Core rather than kiting away from it. The detonation also damages the pack around the core, so a fast pickup solves two problems at once.
