Titanfall 2 is Respawn Entertainment's 2016 shooter, published by Electronic Arts and added to Steam on 18 June 2020 after years as an Origin exclusive. It runs on two layers at once: a Pilot who wall runs, slides and double jumps through the level, and a Titan, a forty foot mech that drops from orbit when your meter fills. The nine mission campaign puts rifleman Jack Cooper with a Vanguard class Titan called BT-7274 and runs roughly six to seven hours, including Effect and Cause, a mission that hands you a device for switching between two time periods mid firefight. Multiplayer is six versus six across modes such as Attrition, Bounty Hunt and Amped Hardpoint.

Boss fights are where Titanfall 2 tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

The Pilot's Gauntlet Bosses

Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: Campaign mission 1 Recommended role: Scorch with Volt SMG

Strategy

The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. A Pilot can run along any wall for a few seconds, double jump, and slide downhill to gain speed that carries into the next jump. This is your primary tool here.

Key tips:

  • Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
  • Use Wall running and slide hopping to create safe windows.
  • Volt SMG is enough to handle everything here.

Effect and Cause Bosses

Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: Campaign mission 5 Recommended role: Scorch with Volt SMG

Strategy

Early game bosses test your understanding of Titan meter and the orbital drop. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.

Key tips:

  • Titan meter and the orbital drop is critical for these fights.
  • Farm Volt SMG upgrades if you're struggling.
  • Consider switching to Scorch if your current setup isn't working.

The Beacon Bosses

Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: Campaign mission 6 Recommended role: Ion with R-201 Carbine

Strategy

Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.

Key tips:

  • You need both Wall running and slide hopping and Titan cores and dash meters mastery.
  • R-201 Carbine makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
  • See our combat guide for advanced techniques.

Angel City Bosses

Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: Multiplayer, all levels Recommended role: Ion with R-201 Carbine

Strategy

Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.

Key tips:

  • Make sure your build is fully optimized.
  • R-201 Carbine at max upgrade is recommended.
  • Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.

Boomtown Bosses

Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: Multiplayer, all levels Recommended role: Ion with R-201 Carbine

Strategy

Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.

Key tips:

  • Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
  • Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
  • These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.

General Boss Tips

  1. Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
  2. Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
  3. Upgrade your weapons: A max-upgraded R-201 Carbine trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
  4. Use Wall running and slide hopping: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
  5. Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
