Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is Landfall's physics battle game, released in full on 1 April 2021 after two years in Early Access. You spend a gold budget on wobblers from 14 factions, place them on a battlefield, and then hand the whole thing over to an active ragdoll simulation that decides the outcome. A Halfling costs 50 gold and a Da Vinci Tank costs 4,000, and the interesting question is almost never which unit is better but which unit is better per gold against the army already sitting on the other side of the field.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

The Introduction: Starting Area

The tutorial campaign, teaching placement, budget spending and the basics of what the physics does to a formation. Levels here are generous enough that almost any sensible army clears them.

What to Do Here

The Adventure: Early Game

Mixed faction levels with light strategic pressure. Budgets loosen up and the enemy armies start combining melee walls with ranged backlines, which is where reading the enemy layout first starts to pay.

What to Do Here

  • Focus on mastering Active ragdoll physics. It's critical from this point on.
  • Farm for Hoplite if you don't have it yet.
  • Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
  • Prepare for the difficulty spike in The Challenge.

The Challenge: Mid Game

The hard campaign, where your budget sits below the enemy's total army value on purpose. Cheap units and formation shape do the work here, since simply buying the strongest wobbler cannot cover the gap.

Simulation: Late Game

Campaign levels built on simulation maps with environmental hazards, so terrain kills units the enemy never had to pay for. Placement matters more here than composition.

DifficultyMid to late campaign
Key RewardsHazard-aware placement, unusual map layouts
Recommended BuildTribal
Key EquipmentHalfling

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Halfling should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Unit Creator and Workshop mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into Legacy.

Legacy: Endgame

An unlockable campaign gated behind owning all 16 Legacy units, from Peasant and Boxer through Thor, Tank and Super Peasant. It is a nostalgia pass over the Early Access roster rather than a difficulty spike.

AttributeDetail
DifficultyUnlock campaign, requires the full Legacy faction
Key RewardsLegacy faction completion, Super Peasant and Dark Peasant
Recommended BuildTribal
Key EquipmentHalfling

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Renaissance for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: The Introduction → The Adventure → The Challenge → Simulation → Legacy. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
