Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is Landfall's physics battle game, released in full on 1 April 2021 after two years in Early Access. You spend a gold budget on wobblers from 14 factions, place them on a battlefield, and then hand the whole thing over to an active ragdoll simulation that decides the outcome. A Halfling costs 50 gold and a Da Vinci Tank costs 4,000, and the interesting question is almost never which unit is better but which unit is better per gold against the army already sitting on the other side of the field.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Halfling | S | Swarm armies, and padding out any formation that has gold left over. | The cheapest unit in the game at 50 gold, from the Farmer faction. |
| Hoplite | A | Anchoring a formation so ranged units at the back get their firing time. | An Ancient melee unit at 180 gold with a shield and spear. |
| Musketeer | A | Mid budget ranged support against the 650 gold Knight and similarly expensive melee. | A Renaissance ranged unit at 250 gold. |
| Ballista | B | Levels where the enemy has paid for one titan instead of many bodies. | An Ancient siege unit at 900 gold that fires a heavy bolt down a flat line. |
| Da Vinci Tank | B | Open maps against melee-only armies, and for possession when a level needs manual steering. | The most expensive standard unit at 4,000 gold, from the Renaissance faction. |
S-Tier: Halfling
The cheapest unit in the game at 50 gold, from the Farmer faction. Individually useless, and the reason most tight budget campaign levels are solvable at all, because twenty bodies beat one expensive one at surrounding a target.

Best builds using Halfling: Pairs naturally with Tribal thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Hoplite
An Ancient melee unit at 180 gold with a shield and spear. It holds a line against cheap infantry without needing support, which makes it the standard front rank behind which everything else is placed.

A-Tier: Musketeer
A Renaissance ranged unit at 250 gold. Slow to reload but hits hard enough to matter against armoured targets, and it works best in a line where reload gaps overlap rather than stack.

B-Tier: Ballista
An Ancient siege unit at 900 gold that fires a heavy bolt down a flat line. It is the standard answer to a single expensive target, since the 2,000 gold Zeus and the 4,000 gold Da Vinci Tank both present a large body and no evasion.

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear The Introduction
- Hoplite → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Musketeer → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Halfling → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Look at the enemy army before you spend a single gold coin. Every campaign level shows the opposing placement up front, so buying a 900 gold Ballista against twenty cheap infantry wastes the entire budget on the wrong answer.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
