Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos is NANOO's hand drawn survivors-like with Diablo style loot attached. It spent a year in Early Access from 19 May 2025 before the 1.0 build arrived on 26 May 2026 with five heroes. Every run climbs a numbered floor of the tower, and everything you pick up drops into a stash rather than onto your character.
Your choice of equipment defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

Equipment Progression Path
The order you should acquire equipment as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Floor 1
- Ice Orb → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Spear Spin → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Chain Lightning → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Equipment Tips
- Always upgrade your primary equipment before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your equipment to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Read the floor header before you drop in. It lists difficulty, item level range, timer and reward modifiers, which tells you straight away whether this is a progression push or a farming trip.
- Check our tier list for how equipment rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
