Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos is NANOO's hand drawn survivors-like with Diablo style loot attached. It spent a year in Early Access from 19 May 2025 before the 1.0 build arrived on 26 May 2026 with five heroes. Every run climbs a numbered floor of the tower, and everything you pick up drops into a stash rather than onto your character.
Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.
Area Progression Order
| Order | Location | Difficulty | Key Rewards | Recommended Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Floor 1 | Item level 1 to 3 on Normal | Starting gear and the first gold for camp upgrades | Wizard |
| 2 | Floor 3 | Mid item levels on Normal | Better rarity rolls and your first meaningful runes | Wizard |
| 3 | Floor 6: Hellblossom | Upper Normal item levels | Demon Hunter class unlock | Warrior |
| 4 | Earlier floors on Hard | Hard difficulty item bands | Purple and orange rarity drops | Warrior |
| 5 | The camp | Between every run | Permanent Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence that stack across all runs | Warrior |
Floor 1: Starting Area
The opening floor, used to learn the auto attack loop and stock the first stash before anything gets dangerous.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Item level 1 to 3 on Normal |
| Key Rewards | Starting gear and the first gold for camp upgrades |
| Recommended Build | Wizard |
| Key Equipment | Ice Orb |
What to Do Here
- Learn the basics of Auto attacking wave survival. This is where you practice without heavy punishment.
- Collect starting resources and your first equipment upgrade.
- Clear all main content before moving to Floor 3.
- If you're struggling, read our beginner's guide.
Floor 3: Early Game
Where the difficulty curve first bites and your level up picks start mattering more than raw stat totals.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Mid item levels on Normal |
| Key Rewards | Better rarity rolls and your first meaningful runes |
| Recommended Build | Wizard |
| Key Equipment | Ice Orb |
What to Do Here
- Focus on mastering Three upgrade picks per level. It's critical from this point on.
- Farm for Ice Orb if you don't have it yet.
- Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
- Prepare for the difficulty spike in Floor 6: Hellblossom.
Floor 6: Hellblossom: Mid Game
The floor that gates the Demon Hunter unlock, and the point where most players stall on their first serious push.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Upper Normal item levels |
| Key Rewards | Demon Hunter class unlock |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Ice Orb |
What to Do Here
- This is the main skill check. Bring an optimized build.
- Chain Lightning becomes accessible here. Prioritize getting it.
- Master Loot banks to the stash for the boss encounters.
- Check our boss guide if you get stuck.
Earlier floors on Hard: Late Game
Re-running cleared floors on Hard raises the item level band without the enemy density of an entirely new floor.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Hard difficulty item bands |
| Key Rewards | Purple and orange rarity drops |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Chain Lightning |
What to Do Here
- Full build optimization is expected by this point.
- Chain Lightning should be your primary, fully upgraded.
- Floor gated item levels mastery starts mattering here.
- Farm resources for the push into The camp.
The camp: Endgame
The hub between runs, where gold buys permanent stat upgrades and the stash gets sorted before the next attempt.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Between every run |
| Key Rewards | Permanent Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence that stack across all runs |
| Recommended Build | Warrior |
| Key Equipment | Chain Lightning |
What to Do Here
- This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
- See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
- The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
- Experiment with Skull Crusher for variety once you've mastered the meta.
Exploration Tips
- Clear areas in order: Floor 1 → Floor 3 → Floor 6: Hellblossom → Earlier floors on Hard → The camp. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
- Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
- Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
- Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
- Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
