War Robots is a free to play 6v6 third person mech shooter from MY.GAMES, originally a Pixonic mobile title that arrived on Steam on 5 April 2018 and still shares matchmaking with the phone version. Matches run ten minutes and are decided by beacon control rather than kills, which means a light robot that runs and captures often does more for the score than a heavy that farms damage. The hangar carries more than fifty robots plus a separate Titan class, each with its own ability, and everything can be pushed through the MK2 and MK3 upgrade tiers using two different currencies and Upgrade Tokens. Steam reviews sit around 59 percent positive, and almost every negative one names the same thing: progression is slow unless you spend, and the newest robots are noticeably stronger than the ones you already own. Read the ability text before you commit resources, because in War Robots an ability decides a robot's role far more than its hardpoint count does.

Boss fights are where War Robots tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

Springfield Bosses

Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: All hangar levels, common in mid tier matchmaking Recommended role: Skyros with Blaze

Strategy

The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. Domination is the core 6v6 mode, with two ways to win inside the ten minute limit: hold more beacons than the enemy so their score bleeds away, or destroy every enemy robot. This is your primary tool here.

Key tips:

  • Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
  • Use Beacon control in Domination and Beacon Rush to create safe windows.
  • Blaze is enough to handle everything here.

Yamantau Bosses

Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: All hangar levels, favours long range loadouts Recommended role: Skyros with Blaze

Strategy

Early game bosses test your understanding of Robot abilities and Aegis class shields. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.

Key tips:

  • Robot abilities and Aegis class shields is critical for these fights.
  • Farm Blaze upgrades if you're struggling.
  • Consider switching to Skyros if your current setup isn't working.

Shenzhen Bosses

Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: All hangar levels, rewards jump and dash abilities Recommended role: Fenrir with Nucleon

Strategy

Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.

Key tips:

  • You need both Beacon control in Domination and Beacon Rush and MK2 and MK3 upgrade tiers mastery.
  • Nucleon makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
  • See our combat guide for advanced techniques.

Dead City Bosses

Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: All hangar levels, appears constantly in low and mid brackets Recommended role: Fenrir with Nucleon

Strategy

Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.

Key tips:

  • Make sure your build is fully optimized.
  • Nucleon at max upgrade is recommended.
  • Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.

Power Plant Bosses

Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: All hangar levels, strongly favours jumping robots Recommended role: Fenrir with Nucleon

Strategy

Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.

Key tips:

  • Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
  • Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
  • These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.

General Boss Tips

  1. Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
  2. Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
  3. Upgrade your weapons: A max-upgraded Nucleon trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
  4. Use Beacon control in Domination and Beacon Rush: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
  5. Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
