War Robots is a free to play 6v6 third person mech shooter from MY.GAMES, originally a Pixonic mobile title that arrived on Steam on 5 April 2018 and still shares matchmaking with the phone version. Matches run ten minutes and are decided by beacon control rather than kills, which means a light robot that runs and captures often does more for the score than a heavy that farms damage. The hangar carries more than fifty robots plus a separate Titan class, each with its own ability, and everything can be pushed through the MK2 and MK3 upgrade tiers using two different currencies and Upgrade Tokens. Steam reviews sit around 59 percent positive, and almost every negative one names the same thing: progression is slow unless you spend, and the newest robots are noticeably stronger than the ones you already own. Read the ability text before you commit resources, because in War Robots an ability decides a robot's role far more than its hardpoint count does.
Your choice of weapons defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.
Weapons Rankings
| Weapon | Tier | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nucleon | S | Heavy hardpoints on brawlers that hold a beacon and need continuous damage rather than a one shot window. | A heavy plasma weapon from the same family as the Atomizer and Quarker, built around sustained plasma output rather than a single burst. |
| Blaze | A | Close quarters maps like Power Plant and Moon where fights happen inside a few dozen metres. | The pyro family flamethrower style weapon, punishing at short range and almost worthless past it. |
| Scourge | A | Contested central beacons where several enemy robots stack into the same small area. | An explosive family weapon alongside the Calamity, Cyclone and Cataclysm, throwing area damage that does not need pinpoint aim. |
| Redeemer | B | Ambush robots that close distance quickly and need to delete a target inside one magazine. | A close range heavy energy weapon effective out to about 350 metres, comparable to the Taran but with more than twice the punch in a single burst. |
| Devastator | B | Heavy brawlers that expect to fight at beacon range and want the highest damage per second the slot allows. | A heavy hardpoint weapon that trades range for raw output, and one of the guns that has an Ultimate Edition variant alongside Ultimate Blaze, Ultimate Redeemer and Ultimate Scourge. |
S-Tier: Nucleon
A heavy plasma weapon from the same family as the Atomizer and Quarker, built around sustained plasma output rather than a single burst. Plasma weapons in War Robots are prized because they keep pressure on robots that rely on regeneration to stay alive.

Best builds using Nucleon: Pairs naturally with Fenrir thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.
A-Tier: Blaze

Weapons Progression Path
The order you should acquire weapons as you progress:
- Starting gear → Enough to clear Springfield
- Blaze → Your first real upgrade, available early
- Scourge → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
- Nucleon → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
- Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous
Weapons Tips
- Always upgrade your primary weapon before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
- Match your weapons to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
- Domination is decided by beacon score inside ten minutes, so capturing two beacons in the first twenty seconds is worth more than any duel you win later in the match.
- Check our tier list for how weapons rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
