Your Chronicle is a free text based idle RPG by Samurai Games, released on Steam on 4 April 2021 and also playable in a browser. You start in a village with a father telling you to be strong and save your mother, and you progress by spending Action points on button driven tasks like picking weeds and chopping wood. More than 3,000 story actions sit behind it, across 19 documented areas that run from the starting Village to the Akashic Record.

This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Phase 1: Getting Started (Village)

The starting area and the one you return to most. It holds Pick Weeds, cooking recipes from Bread through to Cream Stew, donation actions that pay Destiny, and the loop actions Rest, Recover Stamina, Concentrate and Pray at two seconds each.

Level/Difficulty: Chapter 1, your first session Key Rewards: Gold, Weed, Destiny, plus the Edge of Town, Riverbank, Waterfall and Dim Cave dungeons

What to Do in Village

  1. Learn Action and Stamina costs. Almost every task spends Action, and looped tasks spend Stamina on top. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
  2. Pick Familiar Routine as your starting build. See our builds guide for why.
  3. Habit points can be refunded and reallocated at no cost, so treat every Routine allocation as an experiment rather than a permanent commitment.
  4. Acquire your first equipment upgrade: Steel Sword or whatever's available.
  5. Clear all main content before moving on.

Phase 1 Checklist

  • Understand Action and Stamina costs fundamentals
  • Familiar Routine selected and functional
  • Village main content cleared
  • Ready for Forest

Phase 2: Early Game (Forest)

The second area, built around Chop Wood at 0.8 Action and 0.5 Stamina per log, alongside Harvest Wheat, Carve Wooden Statues, Milk Cow and Churn Butter. The Lumberjack Workshop here raises storage across four conversations.

Level/Difficulty: First few hours Key Rewards: Wood, Wheat, Mushrooms, Apples, storage capacity upgrades, a cafeteria

What to Do in Forest

  1. Work on Habit points and Routines. Routines are passive actions funded by Habit points, and Habit can be refunded and reallocated at any time for free. This system becomes critical from here on.
  2. Farm for Steel Sword if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
  3. Energy is the one basic Routine category that a Dark Ritual does not reset. Habit spent there survives prestige, which makes it the safest early investment in the game.
  4. Complete all objectives before pushing to Academic City.
  5. Consider whether Energy Routine might suit your playstyle better than Familiar Routine.

Phase 2 Checklist

  • Habit points and Routines integrated into gameplay
  • Steel Sword acquired
  • Forest fully cleared
  • Ready for Academic City

Phase 3: Mid Game (Academic City)

The third of the 19 documented areas, arriving straight after the Forest. City areas trade the raw gathering loops of the Village and Forest for study and crafting actions.

Level/Difficulty: Mid game, after several Sacred Ritual ranks Key Rewards: New action types and resources beyond wood, weeds and wheat

What to Do in Academic City

  1. Master Sacred Ritual ranking. Sacred Ritual converts accumulated Exp into Rank. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
  2. Start working toward Wooden Sword. It's the best equipment and becomes accessible around now.
  3. Sacred Ritual converts Exp into Rank and each Rank adds one to your Habit cap. If your Habit cap feels tight, the answer is more Sacred Rituals rather than a cleverer allocation.
  4. This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
  5. Start investing in Dark Ritual prestige for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.

Phase 3 Checklist

  • Sacred Ritual ranking mastered
  • Wooden Sword acquired or in progress
  • Academic City fully cleared
  • Ready for Coastal City

Phase 4: Late Game (Coastal City)

Coastal City is the late-game area with advanced content.

Level/Difficulty: Advanced Key Rewards: Progression materials and gear upgrades

What to Do in Coastal City

  1. Finalize your build. You should be running Energy Routine or Familiar Routine with optimized gear.
  2. Wooden Sword should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
  3. The Exp counter in the Sacred Ritual menu can go negative for a while. The wiki confirms this is expected behaviour and not a broken save.
  4. A party of ten allies optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
  5. Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Akashic Record.

Phase 4 Checklist

  • Build fully optimized
  • Wooden Sword upgraded to max
  • Coastal City fully cleared
  • Ready for Akashic Record

Phase 5: Endgame (Akashic Record)

The last of the 19 documented areas, past the Demon Kingdom and the Astral World. Progress here is one of the few things retained through Reincarnation, the reset layer that sits above Dark Ritual.

Level/Difficulty: Endgame, many resets in Key Rewards: Reincarnation progress, Sin, retained nonhuman allies

What to Do in Akashic Record

  1. Akashic Record tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
  2. Do not rush your first Dark Ritual. It zeroes Rank and basic Routine levels, and it only pays for itself once your banked Next Talent multiplier outweighs what you are giving up.
  3. The endgame loop: run Akashic Record, optimize gear, push harder content.
  4. Experiment with Gluttony Routine for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
  5. This is where A party of ten allies mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.

Phase 5 Checklist

  • Endgame content on farm
  • Best-in-slot gear acquired
  • Akashic Record fully cleared
  • Ready for challenge content

Common Progression Mistakes

  • Performing a Dark Ritual early because it sounds like progress. It zeroes Rank and basic Routines and returns only the Talent you had already banked.
  • Leaving Habit points unspent. They do nothing in reserve and can be reallocated at any moment, so idle points are pure lost output.
  • Ignoring storage capacity. Resources stop accumulating at the cap, so a full bin can waste an entire offline session.
  • Building a party from a single element because those allies happen to have the best raw stats.
  • Buying all three Forest cafeteria meals expecting them to stack. They are mutually exclusive and cost 200 Gold each.

Key Tips for Smooth Progression

  1. Habit points can be refunded and reallocated at no cost, so treat every Routine allocation as an experiment rather than a permanent commitment.
  2. Energy is the one basic Routine category that a Dark Ritual does not reset. Habit spent there survives prestige, which makes it the safest early investment in the game.
  3. Sacred Ritual converts Exp into Rank and each Rank adds one to your Habit cap. If your Habit cap feels tight, the answer is more Sacred Rituals rather than a cleverer allocation.
  4. The Exp counter in the Sacred Ritual menu can go negative for a while. The wiki confirms this is expected behaviour and not a broken save.
  5. Do not rush your first Dark Ritual. It zeroes Rank and basic Routine levels, and it only pays for itself once your banked Next Talent multiplier outweighs what you are giving up.
