This Z1 Battle Royale tier list ranks every major option by overall effectiveness. Rankings factor in damage output, survivability, versatility, gear requirements, and how well each option scales.
Tier definitions: S = best in class, always a strong pick. A = strong and competitive, minor weaknesses. B = solid but clearly outperformed in most situations. C = viable only for players who enjoy the playstyle.
Builds Rankings
| Tier | Build | Rating | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Police Station Rusher | 8.5/10 | Cut the chute at maximum speed, land on a roof or the rear door, and clear rooms with the shotgun before anyone finds a rifle. Leave in a police car within 90 seconds rather than fighting the rest of the town. |
| B | Vehicle Nomad | 7.5/10 | Skip Pleasant Valley entirely and farm the outskirts near Ranchito Taquito or Harris Bluffs. Park behind cover before the last two circles, because engine noise gives your position away at long range. |
| A | Third-Party Vulture | 8.5/10 | Balanced approach |
| A | Gas Edge Rotator | 8.5/10 | Balanced approach |
| B | Shotgun Ambusher | 7.5/10 | Sit inside a building near the circle edge and let rotations walk into you. Use a gas grenade on the doorway you are not watching so nobody flanks it. |
Detailed Builds Analysis
Police Station Rusher (A-Tier)
Pleasant Valley has the only police station on the map and it is the single densest loot building in the game, which is why the first 30 seconds there decide a match. This build accepts a coin-flip opening in exchange for full kit before anyone else is armed.
Best with: Whatever spawns first, then Combat Shotgun and AR-15, plus a police car parked outside. See our builds guide for full setup. Stat focus: Loot order: any gun, then ammo, then armor, then healing
Vehicle Nomad (B-Tier)
Cars were always part of the Z1 identity, to the point that Auto Royale shipped as its own mode. Running a fueled offroader means you loot three small farms instead of one town and never lose a race to the gas.
Best with: Offroader or pickup truck, fuel cans, AR-15, .308 Hunting Rifle, spare armor in the back. See our builds guide for full setup. Stat focus: Loot order: fuel, then vehicle, then rifle, then armor
Third-Party Vulture (A-Tier)
Third-Party Vulture is a competitive option in the current meta.
Best with: Combat Shotgun. See our builds guide for full setup. Stat focus: Balanced stats
Gas Edge Rotator (A-Tier)
Gas Edge Rotator is a competitive option in the current meta.
Best with: .308 Hunting Rifle. See our builds guide for full setup. Stat focus: Balanced stats
Shotgun Ambusher (B-Tier)
The semi-automatic Combat Shotgun has a tighter spread and a higher fire rate than the pump, which turns farmhouses and barns into rooms you can hold alone. It is the lowest-skill route to kills but folds the moment a fight opens past 25 metres.
Best with: Combat Shotgun, .44 Magnum as backup, body armor, helmet, gas grenade. See our builds guide for full setup. Stat focus: Loot order: shotgun shells, then helmet, then armor, then a throwable
Equipment Rankings
| Equipment | Best With | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| AR-15 | Every range from 20 to 120 metres, and the gun you should keep even after finding an AK-47 | Semi-automatic rifle chambered for . |
| AK-47 | Close to medium fights inside towns where two or three shots settle it | Higher per-shot damage than the AR-15 with 7. |
| Combat Shotgun | Clearing the Pleasant Valley police station and holding farmhouse doorways | Semi-automatic close-range option added as an alternative to the pump, with a faster fire rate and a tighter pattern. |
| .308 Hunting Rifle | Open ground between towns and punishing players caught in the gas | Bolt-action long rifle with heavy damage and pronounced bullet drop, so hits demand you lead the target and aim high rather than centre it. |
| Molotov Cocktail | Forcing a player out of a single-room building without entering it | Thrown incendiary that puts a burning pool on the floor and denies a room for several seconds. |
Check our weapons guide for in-depth stats and comparisons.
Equipment Analysis
AR-15: Semi-automatic rifle chambered for .223 rounds, with bloom that punishes fast clicking and drop that matters past roughly 80 metres. It is the reference weapon the whole game is balanced around.
AK-47: Higher per-shot damage than the AR-15 with 7.62 ammunition and a harder kick, which makes it stronger in a short exchange and worse in a long one. Ammo is scarcer than .223 on most loot routes.
Combat Shotgun: Semi-automatic close-range option added as an alternative to the pump, with a faster fire rate and a tighter pattern. Missing the first shot is survivable in a way it never was with the pump.
.308 Hunting Rifle: Bolt-action long rifle with heavy damage and pronounced bullet drop, so hits demand you lead the target and aim high rather than centre it. One body shot on an unarmoured player is usually enough.
Molotov Cocktail: Thrown incendiary that puts a burning pool on the floor and denies a room for several seconds. It ignores armor, which is what makes it the answer to a fully kitted camper.
Meta Analysis
The current meta in Z1 Battle Royale centers on toxic gas ring and parachute drop timing. Builds that leverage both systems outperform those that focus on only one. Our combat guide explains these interactions in depth.
What's strong right now:
- Police Station Rusher with AR-15 is the benchmark. Everything else is measured against it.
- vehicle looting builds are gaining ground as players find new combinations.
- Third-Party Vulture remains essential for learning hard content. See the boss guide.
What's underrated:
- Vehicle Nomad is consistently overlooked despite being the most flexible option.
- Combat Shotgun offers excellent performance for its investment level.
What's overhyped:
- Pure Shotgun Ambusher builds. High ceiling but the consistency isn't there for most players.
Quick Picks by Situation
