Battlefield V boss guide with strategies, recommended builds, and tips for every boss fight from start to endgame.

Battlefield V arrived in November 2018 with eight maps, among them Narvik, Rotterdam and Fjell 652, and DICE closed content development in June 2020 after six Tides of War chapters. It is the only Battlefield where every soldier carries a hammer and can raise sandbags, tank traps and repaired walls at marked build points. Ammunition is deliberately thin under the attrition system, so a squad without a Support runs dry long before it runs out of targets.

Boss fights are where Battlefield V tests everything you've learned. This guide covers strategies for bosses across all areas, organized by progression order. For general combat techniques, see our combat guide.

Narvik Bosses

Area difficulty: Easy Recommended level: Conquest 64 players Recommended role: Medic with MP40

Strategy

The first bosses teach core combat mechanics. Focus on learning patterns rather than dealing damage. Every kit carries a hammer and can build sandbags, barbed wire, tank traps and rebuilt walls at the marked construction points around objectives. This is your primary tool here.

Key tips:

  • Don't rush. Learn the attack patterns first.
  • Use Fortification building to create safe windows.
  • MP40 is enough to handle everything here.

Rotterdam Bosses

Area difficulty: Moderate Recommended level: Conquest and Breakthrough Recommended role: Medic with MP40

Strategy

Early game bosses test your understanding of Attrition ammo economy. Players who skipped learning this mechanic will hit a wall here.

Key tips:

  • Attrition ammo economy is critical for these fights.
  • Farm MP40 upgrades if you're struggling.
  • Consider switching to Medic if your current setup isn't working.

Twisted Steel Bosses

Area difficulty: Hard Recommended level: Conquest 64 players Recommended role: Assault with StG 44

Strategy

Mid-game bosses are the major skill check. They combine multiple mechanics and punish players who rely on a single strategy.

Key tips:

  • You need both Fortification building and Squad reinforcements mastery.
  • StG 44 makes a significant difference. Get it before attempting these.
  • See our combat guide for advanced techniques.

Operation Underground Bosses

Area difficulty: Very Hard Recommended level: Conquest and Breakthrough Recommended role: Assault with StG 44

Strategy

Late-game bosses are serious challenges. Build optimization matters as much as mechanical skill.

Key tips:

  • Make sure your build is fully optimized.
  • StG 44 at max upgrade is recommended.
  • Study each boss's attack patterns. Most have 2-3 phases.

Iwo Jima Bosses

Area difficulty: Extreme Recommended level: Conquest and Breakthrough Recommended role: Assault with StG 44

Strategy

Endgame bosses are the ultimate test. They require mastery of all combat systems and an optimized build.

Key tips:

  • Top-tier build with best-in-slot gear is mandatory.
  • Master every mechanic. See our combat guide.
  • These fights reward patience and pattern recognition above all else.

General Boss Tips

  1. Learn before you fight: Spend your first attempt observing attack patterns. Don't try to win on attempt one.
  2. Match your build: Some bosses favor certain builds over others. Don't be afraid to switch.
  3. Upgrade your weapons: A max-upgraded StG 44 trivializes fights that seem impossible with weaker gear.
  4. Use Fortification building: The core combat mechanic is your best defensive tool in every boss fight.
  5. Check the walkthrough: Our walkthrough tells you when you're ready for each boss.
