Targem Games and Gaijin launched Crossout as a free-to-play title on 26 July 2017, and it is still on a seasonal schedule nine years later, with the Dark Awakening season running from 4 June to 2 September 2026 and adding the Eclipse faction. You bolt a vehicle together part by part from a cabin, movement parts, weapons and modules, then take it into 8v8 missions, raids and clan battles where every component you attached can be shot off individually. Parts run through seven rarity steps from Starter up to Relic, and relics need uranium plus Engineers reputation 20 to craft.

Your choice of weapons defines your damage output and playstyle. This guide ranks every major option, explains what makes each one strong, and tells you which builds they pair best with.

S-Tier: Punisher

A relic machine gun crafted at the Engineers workbench at reputation 20. It hits hard at range for an automatic weapon and pairs well with builds that can hold a firing lane, but relic status means uranium on top of the reputation grind.

How to get it: Available from mid-game onward. See our walkthrough for the exact progression point.

Best builds using Punisher: Pairs naturally with Brawler thanks to how their stat scaling lines up.

A-Tier: AC72 Whirlwind

An epic autocannon sitting between the special AC50 Storm and the legendary AC80 Stillwind. Autocannons reward players who fire in controlled bursts, because sustained fire overheats them and accuracy falls off across a long burst.

A-Tier: Scorpion

A relic coilgun whose shot passes through multiple parts along its path instead of stopping at the first plate it meets. It has a long reload and a visible firing trace, so a Scorpion that stays in one position is a Scorpion that dies.

B-Tier: Mandrake

A legendary mortar that fires in an arc over terrain onto a targeted area, which makes it the main indirect-fire option in the game. It cannot defend itself and needs a spotter or a radar module to be worth its cost.

B-Tier: Harvester

A legendary Lunatics melee weapon, a set of powered saw blades that chew through parts on contact. Damage comes from your own speed and mass, so it belongs on a light, fast frame rather than on anything armoured.

Weapons Progression Path

The order you should acquire weapons as you progress:

  1. Starting gear → Enough to clear Founders Canyon
  2. AC72 Whirlwind → Your first real upgrade, available early
  3. Scorpion → Mid-game upgrade with good scaling
  4. Punisher → Best-in-slot, aim for this by late game
  5. Upgrade to max → The power spike from max upgrades is enormous

Weapons Tips

  • Always upgrade your primary weapon before diversifying. One strong option beats three mediocre ones.
  • Match your weapons to your build's stat priorities for maximum scaling.
  • Bury the cabin. There is no vehicle health pool, so a match ends when someone destroys the cabin specifically. A build with average armour that hides the cabin behind a weapon, a generator and a wall of frame parts survives far longer than a heavily armoured build with the cabin exposed at the back.
  • Check our tier list for how weapons rankings affect overall build effectiveness.
