FromSoftware released Nightreign on 30 May 2025 as a three player roguelike built on Elden Ring's combat. Every expedition drops a squad into Limveld for three in-game days, with the layout of camps, churches and forts reshuffled each run. Day three always ends against one of eight Nightlords, and losing wipes the entire loadout you spent the run assembling.

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

Roundtable Hold: Starting Area

The hub between expeditions where you equip Relics, pick your Nightfarer and select which Nightlord to hunt. Sleeping in the bed here advances time and rotates out an active Shifting Earth event.

What to Do Here

The Crater: Early Game

A volcanic gash that overwrites the northern half of Limveld and packs the area with fire enemies. Clearing it lets you promote a weapon all the way to Legendary rarity.

What to Do Here

  • Focus on mastering Night's Tide closing ring. It's critical from this point on.
  • Farm for Moonveil if you don't have it yet.
  • Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
  • Prepare for the difficulty spike in The Mountaintop.

The Mountaintop: Mid Game

A frozen peak that replaces terrain with frostbite hazards and cold weather enemies. The blessing you earn from clearing it makes frostbite far less punishing on later Nightlords.

Rotted Woods: Late Game

A Scarlet Rot forest that takes over the bottom right corner of the map. Working through it grants a blessing that raises health, improves recovery and blunts rot buildup.

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Rivers of Blood should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Shifting Earth events mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into Noklateo, the Shrouded City.

Noklateo, the Shrouded City: Endgame

A dense enemy filled city that is the last Shifting Earth event to unlock. Its rewards let you duplicate a weapon and gain a power that revives you after a fatal hit.

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Recluse for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: Roundtable Hold → The Crater → The Mountaintop → Rotted Woods → Noklateo, the Shrouded City. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your equipment: Some areas favor different equipment types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
