Knight Online is an old school PvP MMORPG credited to Noah System and Mgame and published by NTT Game, which put it on Steam on 25 January 2016. Two nations, El Morad and Karus, fight over the Adonis Continent, and nearly every system in the game feeds that war. Moradon is the one town where both sides stand together without swinging, and the Magic Anvil sitting in it decides whether your weapon reaches +8 or turns to dust. Progression is deliberately slow and the war events run on a server clock, so the players who get the most out of it are the ones who plan sessions around the timetable.

Picking the right build determines how your experience plays out. These builds are ranked by overall effectiveness, factoring in damage, survivability, gear requirements, and how well they scale into endgame. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

Key MechanicEl Morad versus Karus nation warEvery character belongs to El Morad, the human kingdom built around El Morad Castle, or Karus, the Tuarek nation around Luferson Castle.

How to Play Warrior

Warrior focuses on a balanced approach to content.

Why this build works: One-handed sword does the damage and El Morad versus Karus nation war keeps it running, which is why this sits at the top of the list. See our weapons guide for detailed equipment breakdowns.

Pros:

  • Highest overall performance
  • Straightforward gearing path
  • Works in all content types

Cons:

  • Popular pick, resources may be contested
  • Needs specific gear to reach full potential

A-Tier: Rogue

Rogue is a strong option in Knight Online.

Core Setup

SlotChoiceWhy
Primary EquipmentTwo-handed axeHeavy Warrior weapon that trades the shield slot for larger hits, and it is the war zone default once you have enough health to survive without blocking.
Core GearBest available for your levelMaximizes build potential
Stat PriorityBalanced offensive and defensive statsOptimal scaling
Key MechanicMagic Anvil upgrading to +10The Magic Anvil in Moradon takes an upgrade scroll plus your item and rolls for a higher plus value, up to +10.

How to Play Rogue

Rogue focuses on a balanced approach to content.

Why this build works: Pair Two-handed axe with Magic Anvil upgrading to +10 and the build stops depending on a good start, so it holds up across most content. See our weapons guide for detailed equipment breakdowns.

Pros:

  • Most versatile option
  • Straightforward gearing path
  • Works in all content types

Cons:

  • Lower peak damage than S-tier
  • Needs specific gear to reach full potential

A-Tier: Mage

Mage is a strong option in Knight Online.

Core Setup

SlotChoiceWhy
Primary EquipmentDaggerThe Rogue's melee option, built around fast attacks and a stealth opener rather than sustained trading.
Core GearBest available for your levelMaximizes build potential
Stat PriorityBalanced offensive and defensive statsOptimal scaling
Key MechanicNational Points and clan gradesKilling a player of the enemy nation awards National Points and dying to one takes them away, so NP is the closest thing the game has to a public scoreboard.

How to Play Mage

Mage focuses on a balanced approach to content.

Why this build works: National Points and clan grades covers the gap Dagger leaves open, so the build stays usable even when a fight goes badly. See our weapons guide for detailed equipment breakdowns.

Pros:

  • Best survivability
  • Straightforward gearing path
  • Works in all content types

Cons:

  • Slower clear speeds
  • Needs specific gear to reach full potential

How to Play Priest

Priest focuses on a balanced approach to content.

Why this build works: This one leans on Scheduled war events rather than raw numbers, and Bow is what makes that trade pay off. See our weapons guide for detailed equipment breakdowns.

Pros:

  • Strong in group/team content
  • Straightforward gearing path
  • Excels in its niche

Cons:

  • Weaker solo performance
  • Requires deep game knowledge

A-Tier: Kurian

Kurian is a specialized option in Knight Online.

Core Setup

SlotChoiceWhy

Core GearBest available for your levelMaximizes build potential
Stat PriorityBalanced offensive and defensive statsOptimal scaling
Key MechanicSecond job change at level 60The first job change happens at level 10 and the second at level 60, and each one opens a fresh skill book.

How to Play Kurian

Kurian focuses on a balanced approach to content.

Why this build works: Staff and Second job change at level 60 pull in the same direction here, which separates this from the safer picks above. See our weapons guide for detailed equipment breakdowns.

Pros:

  • Unique, rewarding playstyle
  • Straightforward gearing path
  • Excels in its niche

Cons:

  • High skill floor, punishing when misplayed
  • Requires deep game knowledge

Build Progression Path

  1. Start with Rogue: the most forgiving option for learning the game
  2. Transition to Warrior once you understand core mechanics and have access to One-handed sword
  3. Keep a Mage setup for content that keeps killing you
  4. Try Kurian for a fresh experience once you've mastered the basics

Follow our walkthrough for the optimal progression path through each area.

Gearing Tips

  • Invest in your primary equipment first, since it gives the biggest power spike. See our weapons guide for rankings.
  • Quests give better experience and gear than grinding below level 30, so clear the Moradon and starting kingdom quest chains before you settle into a spawn.
  • Never take a weapon you cannot replace to the anvil without Trina's Piece, because a failure at +7 or above destroys the item completely rather than dropping it a level.
  • Don't spread upgrade resources across multiple builds until endgame
