Insomniac's sequel came to PC on 30 January 2025 in a port handled by Nixxes, and it roughly doubles the map of the first two games to about 20.8 square kilometres across 14 districts. Manhattan returns, and Brooklyn and Queens are new, including the Coney Island stretch. You switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the open world, and each has his own skill tree alongside a third tree they share: 19 skills for Peter, 17 for Miles and 26 in the shared tree. Peter's line runs through the mechanical Spider-Arms into the symbiote and out the other side into Anti-Venom, while Miles builds on the bio-electric Venom powers he had in his own game.
This guide covers everything you need: core mechanics, the best characters, weapons worth investing in, location progression, and the tips that actually make a difference.
Core Mechanics
Two Spider-Men on one save
Outside story missions you hold a button to switch between Peter and Miles anywhere in the city, and the camera flies across the map to wherever the other one is standing. Progression is shared where it counts: city activities, gadgets and the shared skill tree apply to both, while the 19 Peter-only and 17 Miles-only skills are bought separately. Some districts and side stories are tied to one of them, so playing only one character leaves content untouched.
Parry and Perfect Dodge
The sequel adds a parry on top of the dodge the earlier games used, and it is not optional. Blue-flash attacks can still be dodged, but yellow-flash attacks cannot be dodged at all and must be parried, which is why players coming straight from the 2018 game get flattened by Kraven's Hunters. A successful parry opens a counter window and, with the Amped skill, feeds extra Focus into the bar you spend on healing and finishers.
Three skill trees
Peter has 19 exclusive skills, Miles has 17, and both draw on a shared pool of 26. Peter's exclusives split between the mechanical Spider-Arms, which give Spider Whiplash, Spider Rush, Spider Shock and Spider Barrage, and the symbiote line that later becomes Anti-Venom Tempest, Anti-Venom Punch, Anti-Venom Strike, Anti-Venom Blast, Anti-Venom Yank and Anti-Venom Bomb. Miles builds Venom Punch, Venom Dash, Venom Jump and Venom Smash into Chain Lightning, Thunder Burst, Reverse Flux and Galvanize.
Symbiote Surge and Mega Venom Blast
Each character has a meter that fills through combat and unloads as a temporary power state: Symbiote Surge for Peter and Mega Venom Blast for Miles. The shared Ultimate Assist skill raises how fast both meters fill. These are the panic buttons for a losing room, and holding one until a Hunter squad has fully committed is worth more than firing it as soon as it lights up.
Web Wings and wind tunnels
Traversal now includes Web Wings, a glider that opens with a button press and carries real distance once you learn where the city's wind tunnels sit. Wind tunnels run along the rivers and through several avenues and shoot you upward when you fly into one. Combined with web swinging and the Web Line, a crossing from Queens to lower Manhattan takes under a minute without ever touching a fast travel point.

Weapons Guide
| Weapon | Why It Matters | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Web Shooters | The default gadget and the one you never unequip. | Webbing enemies to walls, stealth takedown setup, keeping Focus topped up |
| Upshot | Fires a volley that suspends enemies in the air, leaving them open to aerial combos. | Starting air combos and buying breathing room from melee enemies |
| Web Grabber | Fires webbing across a radius and then yanks everything inside it, enemies and throwable objects alike, into a single point. | Crowd control, setting up area abilities, the single best gadget in the game |
| Concussion Burst | Knocks back everything nearby with a concussive blast, and becomes Sonic Burst later in the campaign once Peter and Miles retune it to disrupt symbiotes. | Panic clearing when you get surrounded, and disrupting symbiote enemies after the upgrade |
| Ricochet Web | The last gadget to unlock. | Webbing scattered enemies who are too spread out for the Web Grabber |
Web Shooters: The default gadget and the one you never unequip. Increased Capacity adds 4 shots, Splash Zone turns the third shot into an area effect, and Web Burst knocks enemies back at point-blank range. Recycle boosts the Focus you gain from hits, which quietly supports every other build.
Upshot: Fires a volley that suspends enemies in the air, leaving them open to aerial combos. Heavy Pop Up extends it to Brute-class enemies and Fire Power raises the number of projectiles per volley, so a single use can lift a small group.
Web Grabber: Fires webbing across a radius and then yanks everything inside it, enemies and throwable objects alike, into a single point. Grabtastic raises the capacity from 4 to 6, Heave Ho adds Brutes, and Remix electrifies the objects it deploys.
Concussion Burst: Knocks back everything nearby with a concussive blast, and becomes Sonic Burst later in the campaign once Peter and Miles retune it to disrupt symbiotes. Burst Disarm makes enemies drop weapons and Shockwave widens the radius.
Ricochet Web: The last gadget to unlock. It fires a projectile that bounces between enemies and webs each one it touches. Increased Potency adds bounces and Split Shot divides the projectile on ricochet, which turns one shot into a webbed group.

Location Progression
| Location | Level Range | Key Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Astoria | Open world, low-rise traversal territory | District completion, Spider-Bots, Photo Ops, FNSM Requests |
| Downtown Queens | Open world, good first district to hit 100 percent | District completion, Prowler Stashes, Hunter Blinds, EMF Experiments |
| Downtown Brooklyn | Open world, the densest activity district outside Manhattan | District completion, Mysteriums, Marko's Memories, Symbiote Nests |
| Williamsburg | Open world, stealth and rooftop territory | District completion, Hunter Bases, Unidentified Targets, Spider-Bots |
| Little Odessa | Open world, quickest district to complete | District completion, Spider-Bots, The Flame encounters, Photo Ops |
Astoria: One of the two Queens districts and the more residential of them, all low-rise blocks and elevated track rather than the tower canyons of Manhattan. Swinging is harder here because anchor points are lower, which is exactly where the Web Wings and wind tunnels earn their place.
Downtown Queens: The denser half of Queens, with enough height to swing properly and enough ground-level activity to make it a good district to clear early. It sits close enough to the river that a wind tunnel launch drops you straight into Manhattan.
Downtown Brooklyn: The largest Brooklyn district and the one carrying the recognisable landmarks, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Prospect Park and the Coney Island stretch on the map's southern edge. It has the widest spread of activity types of any single district.
Williamsburg: Mid-rise Brooklyn with warehouse roofs and short blocks, which makes it good ground for the Web Line and for stealth approaches to Hunter Bases. The river edge feeds directly into a wind tunnel run back toward Manhattan.
Little Odessa: The smallest of the three Brooklyn districts and the one most players clear last. Being compact makes it the quickest district to take to 100 percent once you know where the collectible types cluster.

Tips That Actually Matter
- Learn the flash colours before anything else. Blue means dodge, yellow means parry and cannot be dodged at all. Coming from the 2018 game with dodge muscle memory is the single most common reason Kraven's Hunters feel unfair.
- Put your first gadget upgrades into the Web Grabber. Grabtastic raising the pull from 4 targets to 6 and Heave Ho adding Brutes changes how every crowded room plays out.
- Switch characters in the open world rather than only when the story forces it. Both share city activity progress, but Peter's and Miles's own skill trees have 19 and 17 exclusive skills that only fill up when you play as them.
- Buy Ultimate Assist from the shared tree early. It fills both Symbiote Surge and Mega Venom Blast faster, so both characters get more use out of their strongest state.
- Use wind tunnels along the rivers to gain height for free. Web Wings plus a tunnel launch crosses from Queens to lower Manhattan faster than fast travel loads.
- There are 42 Spider-Bots scattered across the 14 districts, and each one pays 150 XP and 100 Tech Parts. Collecting them all is worth 400 Tech Parts and 1000 XP on top.
- Save the burst states for after a squad commits. Firing Symbiote Surge at two enemies wastes a meter that would have cleared six.
- Take Amped for Focus on parry. On the harder difficulties Focus is your healing supply, and generating it defensively means you are not forced to attack to stay alive.
- Ultimate difficulty only unlocks after you finish the campaign once, so a first run on Spectacular is the hardest available start. There is no reason to force yourself through the story on a setting you are not enjoying.
- New Game Plus converts regular levels into Ultimate Levels at 40,000 XP each against the usual 4,000, and reaching Ultimate Level 9 unlocks every remaining suit style.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Dodging yellow-flash attacks. They cannot be dodged. Only a parry stops them, and the game does not spell this out clearly enough for players arriving from the first two games.
- Playing 90 percent of the open world as one character. Both trees hold exclusive skills, 19 for Peter and 17 for Miles, and a lopsided run leaves half your abilities unbought when the late fights arrive.
- Ignoring the shared skill tree. Its 26 skills include the Focus generation and healing skills that carry both characters, and it is easy to overlook while chasing flashy symbiote and Venom abilities.
- Spending Tech Parts on suits instead of gadget upgrades. Suit styles are cosmetic, while Web Grabber and Concussion Burst upgrades are the difference between clearing a Hunter Base and restarting it.
- Fast travelling everywhere. Web Wings and wind tunnels make cross-borough runs quick, and every district you fly across surfaces the collectibles and crimes you would otherwise skip.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is new in the map compared to the first two games?
The map is roughly twice the size at about 20.8 square kilometres across 14 districts. Manhattan returns and Brooklyn and Queens are added: Brooklyn splits into Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Little Odessa, while Queens splits into Astoria and Downtown Queens. The Coney Island stretch and the Brooklyn Bridge are both on the map, and the lower-rise outer boroughs are why Web Wings exist.
Do Peter and Miles share progress?
Partly. City activities, gadgets and the 26-skill shared tree apply to both. The exclusive trees do not: Peter has 19 skills of his own and Miles has 17, and those points come from playing as that character. Switching between them regularly in the open world keeps both trees filling rather than leaving one behind.
How many gadgets are there?
Five. Web Shooters and Upshot are available from the start, then Web Grabber, Concussion Burst and finally Ricochet Web, which takes the longest to unlock. Concussion Burst becomes Sonic Burst later in the campaign when Peter and Miles retune it to disrupt symbiotes. The Web Grabber is generally considered the strongest of the five once Grabtastic and Heave Ho are bought.
What does New Game Plus add?
It carries your progress into a fresh run and converts levelling into Ultimate Levels, each costing 40,000 XP against the 4,000 that regular levels need. Every Ultimate Level unlocks a new suit style, and getting all of them means reaching Ultimate Level 9. Ultimate difficulty also becomes available once the campaign has been finished once.
How does the PC version hold up?
Nixxes handled the port and it launched on 30 January 2025 with ray tracing, DLSS 3 upscaling, ultra-wide support and DualSense features when the controller is wired. It is the same content as the PlayStation 5 release rather than a cut-down version, and the graphics options go well beyond the console presets.
