Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is the PC version of Insomniac Games' 2018 PlayStation 4 open world action game, rebuilt by Nixxes Software and released on Steam on 12 August 2022. Peter Parker is eight years into the job when it opens, so there is no origin sequence and the story goes straight at Wilson Fisk, Martin Li and Otto Octavius. The map is Manhattan alone, running from the Financial District up to Harlem, and the three chapter story pack The City That Never Sleeps is included. Miles Morales appears as a supporting character with a handful of powerless stealth sections rather than as a second playable web-slinger.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered features distinct areas with increasing difficulty. This guide covers every major location in progression order: what to do, what to get, and when to move on. For the step-by-step path, see our walkthrough.

Financial District: Starting Area

The southern tip of the map, home to Fisk Tower and the first bases you will clear. Dense towers and short blocks make it the best district to practise low swinging, since anchor points are never more than a second away.

What to Do Here

Chinatown: Early Game

Low rise blocks and market streets that serve as the Demons' home ground once Martin Li's crew takes over. The lower rooflines force more wall running and charge jumps than the skyscraper districts, which makes it a good test of the Webslinger tree.

What to Do Here

  • Focus on mastering Eight gadgets on one wheel. It's critical from this point on.
  • Farm for Impact Web if you don't have it yet.
  • Complete all objectives for maximum rewards.
  • Prepare for the difficulty spike in Midtown.

Midtown: Mid Game

The Times Square end of the island, with the tallest buildings and the widest avenues in the game. Long straight runs here reward point launch chaining more than anywhere else on the map.

Central Park: Late Game

A large open green space that breaks the swinging rhythm, since there is almost nothing to attach a web to across the middle. Several research stations and side missions sit here specifically because the traversal is awkward.

What to Do Here

  • Full build optimization is expected by this point.
  • Web Shooters should be your primary, fully upgraded.
  • Focus bar for healing and takedowns mastery starts mattering here.
  • Farm resources for the push into Harlem.

Harlem: Endgame

The northern end of Manhattan and the last district most players clean up, with a different building density from the rest of the map. Later story beats push you up here, and the bases in the area tend to be the toughest in the game.

What to Do Here

  • This is endgame. Best-in-slot gear and a perfected build are mandatory.
  • See our boss guide for endgame fight strategies.
  • The reward loop: clear content → upgrade → push harder content.
  • Experiment with Spider Armor MK II with Bulletproof for variety once you've mastered the meta.

Exploration Tips

  1. Clear areas in order: Financial District → Chinatown → Midtown → Central Park → Harlem. Skipping areas means missing resources you'll need later.
  2. Check every corner: Hidden caches and secrets are often in non-obvious locations.
  3. Match your weapons: Some areas favor different weapons types.
  4. Read the walkthrough: Our walkthrough provides exact progression milestones for each area.
  5. Don't rush: Clearing an area fully gives more resources than speedrunning two areas.
