Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is the PC version of Insomniac Games' 2018 PlayStation 4 open world action game, rebuilt by Nixxes Software and released on Steam on 12 August 2022. Peter Parker is eight years into the job when it opens, so there is no origin sequence and the story goes straight at Wilson Fisk, Martin Li and Otto Octavius. The map is Manhattan alone, running from the Financial District up to Harlem, and the three chapter story pack The City That Never Sleeps is included. Miles Morales appears as a supporting character with a handful of powerless stealth sections rather than as a second playable web-slinger.
This walkthrough takes you from your first session to endgame content. Each phase has specific goals, priorities, and milestones. New to the game? Start with our beginner's guide first.

See our maps guide for detailed area breakdowns.
Phase 1: Getting Started (Financial District)
The southern tip of the map, home to Fisk Tower and the first bases you will clear. Dense towers and short blocks make it the best district to practise low swinging, since anchor points are never more than a second away.
Level/Difficulty: Opening hours, from the first Fisk mission Key Rewards: Early Backpack Tokens, Fisk base clears, the first research station
What to Do in Financial District
- Learn Momentum based web-swinging. Webs attach to real building geometry, so a low swing down an avenue carries more speed than a high lazy arc over the rooftops. Spend your first session getting comfortable with this.
- Pick Classic Suit with Web Blossom as your starting role. See our builds guide for why.
- Swing at street level rather than over rooftops, because webs anchor to actual geometry and a low arc keeps more speed than a high one.
- Acquire your first weapons upgrade: Impact Web or whatever's available.
- Clear all main content before moving on.
Phase 1 Checklist
- Understand Momentum based web-swinging fundamentals
- Classic Suit with Web Blossom selected and functional
- Financial District main content cleared
- Ready for Chinatown
Phase 2: Early Game (Chinatown)
Low rise blocks and market streets that serve as the Demons' home ground once Martin Li's crew takes over. The lower rooflines force more wall running and charge jumps than the skyscraper districts, which makes it a good test of the Webslinger tree.
Level/Difficulty: Mid story, once the Demons appear Key Rewards: Demon base clears, Landmark Tokens, backpack collectibles
What to Do in Chinatown
- Work on Eight gadgets on one wheel. Web Shooters, Impact Web, Spider-Drone, Suspension Matrix, Electric Web, Trip Mine, Web Bomb and Concussion Blast all sit on a single radial that slows time while it is open. This system becomes critical from here on.
- Farm for Impact Web if you haven't already. It's the key upgrade for this phase.
- Unlock Point Launch and Charge Jump early in the Webslinger tree, since they cut travel time across Manhattan more than any later skill.
- Complete all objectives before pushing to Midtown.
- Consider whether Advanced Suit with Battle Focus might suit your playstyle better than Classic Suit with Web Blossom.
Phase 2 Checklist
- Eight gadgets on one wheel integrated into gameplay
- Impact Web acquired
- Chinatown fully cleared
- Ready for Midtown
Phase 3: Mid Game (Midtown)
The Times Square end of the island, with the tallest buildings and the widest avenues in the game. Long straight runs here reward point launch chaining more than anywhere else on the map.
Level/Difficulty: Available from early on and used throughout Key Rewards: Landmark photos, high value crime chains, tower based Research Tokens
What to Do in Midtown
- Master Three skill trees and suit powers. Skill points from levelling feed the Innovator tree for web attacks, the Defender tree for dodging and counters, and the Webslinger tree for movement and air tricks. This unlocks a new layer of gameplay.
- Start working toward Web Shooters. It's the best weapon and becomes accessible around now.
- Suit powers unlock with the suit but can be worn with any suit afterwards, so buy suits for their powers first and change the look later.
- This area is the main skill check. If you can clear it, you're ready for late game.
- Start investing in Six token types drive every upgrade for the tactical depth you'll need going forward.
Phase 3 Checklist
- Three skill trees and suit powers mastered
- Web Shooters acquired or in progress
- Midtown fully cleared
- Ready for Central Park
Phase 4: Late Game (Central Park)
A large open green space that breaks the swinging rhythm, since there is almost nothing to attach a web to across the middle. Several research stations and side missions sit here specifically because the traversal is awkward.
Level/Difficulty: Mid story onward Key Rewards: Research Tokens, pigeon collectibles, side mission chains
What to Do in Central Park
- Finalize your build. You should be running Advanced Suit with Battle Focus or Classic Suit with Web Blossom with optimized gear.
- Web Shooters should be your primary. If you don't have it yet, prioritize getting it.
- Web enemies while they are against a wall or railing so they stay cocooned, because a webbed enemy in open ground will break free.
- Focus bar for healing and takedowns optimization starts here. Small improvements compound into massive advantages.
- Farm this area for the resources needed to push into Harlem.
Phase 4 Checklist
- Build fully optimized
- Web Shooters upgraded to max
- Central Park fully cleared
- Ready for Harlem
Phase 5: Endgame (Harlem)
The northern end of Manhattan and the last district most players clean up, with a different building density from the rest of the map. Later story beats push you up here, and the bases in the area tend to be the toughest in the game.
Level/Difficulty: Late story, higher level enemies Key Rewards: Late base clears, remaining backpacks, Challenge Tokens
What to Do in Harlem
- Harlem tests everything. Come prepared with your best build and gear.
- Street crimes are the only renewable token source, so if one collectible type is blocking a suit, patrol a borough and clear crime markers.
- The endgame loop: run Harlem, optimize gear, push harder content.
- Experiment with Spider Armor MK II with Bulletproof for a fresh take once you've mastered the standard builds.
- This is where Focus bar for healing and takedowns mastery separates good players from great ones. See our tips guide for advanced strategies.
Phase 5 Checklist
- Endgame content on farm
- Best-in-slot gear acquired
- Harlem fully cleared
- Ready for challenge content
Common Progression Mistakes
- Treating web-swinging as a hold button move and never learning Point Launch, which leaves traversal roughly half as fast as it should be.
- Webbing enemies in open ground where nothing pins them, so they tear free in a few seconds and rejoin the fight.
- Hoarding Focus for a finisher until health runs out, then dying with a full bar that could have healed twice.
- Ignoring landmark photos and research stations until the end, then finding a suit locked behind the two token types you skipped.
- Standing back and shooting webs at armoured brutes instead of dodging into them, since the Defender counters are where the real damage against them lives.
Key Tips for Smooth Progression
- Swing at street level rather than over rooftops, because webs anchor to actual geometry and a low arc keeps more speed than a high one.
- Unlock Point Launch and Charge Jump early in the Webslinger tree, since they cut travel time across Manhattan more than any later skill.
- Suit powers unlock with the suit but can be worn with any suit afterwards, so buy suits for their powers first and change the look later.
- Web enemies while they are against a wall or railing so they stay cocooned, because a webbed enemy in open ground will break free.
- Street crimes are the only renewable token source, so if one collectible type is blocking a suit, patrol a borough and clear crime markers.
